Why does it matter what they look like? I notice that you are only concerned with the appearance of the female candidates

I

I am not only concerned with the appearance of only the females , I just happen to be following Barron 99 conversation  when he mentioned the female Emily Thornberry.

If it's  the males you want to discuss how about Corbyn,  have you noticed how he has smartened  himself up in the past year with the prospect of becoming the next PM.

He still wears wonky glasses though and not to mention Michael  Foot with his scraggy old donkey jacket.

If you don't  think presentation  matters then that says a lot of you.

You do realise that Michael Foot didn't wear a donkey jacket (that from the Telegraph no less).

Right wing newspapers have something of a trope about Labour leaders wearing something inappropriate to the Cenotaph. They even had a go a Corbyn for wearing a rain coat - the reality was "old man wears clothing appropriate for the weather."

I remember seeing him in his jacket - the only one I saw - and wondered what was going through his mind. I knew what the media would say, his advisors knew what the media would say, and so they did. I did have a quiet chuckle.

You do realise that Michael Foot DID wear a donkey jacket, I've  seen him on the TV many times in it.

You're  obviously too young to remember.

I'm both old enough to remember it and young enough to have not needed glasses at the time.

This page has a picture of him with other party leaders at the Cenotaph. If you are so sure it's a donkey jacket, where are the shoulder patches?

Here's a page with a picture of a donkey jacket in case your memory has faded about them and another with Michael Foot's actual jacket.

They could easily have attacked him for having a 'posh expensive jacket from Harrods' whilst being truthful but for some reason they preferred to lie about it. Mind you, people, even now, still believe the lie so it was undoubtedly very effective.

Get real , he went to more places  than the Cenotaph and at least he had the dignity  not to wear it there.

Just because you never saw news casts  and pictures with him wearing it doesn't  mean to say it didn't  happen.

It doesn’t, you are correct.

Perhaps you could show us some evidence that it did happen. Shouldn’t be too tricky, photos were invented in the 19th century.

I also don't think he would have been a great leader, but good enough, he has his faults, but I believe is honesty and fair play would have been enough,  I believe he was the best choice in the last two elections, I think one of his downfalls was not being tough enough, he had people plotting his downfall, and then offered them a conciliatory position in the cabinet, which in turn proved to be a waste of time and took as a sign of weakness, but overall he was up to the job, his policies were right, and I believe history will prove this.

As for hate, I think that is the correct word, but then it may be just the circle of people I work with, but they really do not have a nice word for him,

I don’t like his politics but has a person I found him to be a honest likeable man. I think the majority of people who said they wouldn’t vote for him will have thought the same.

You need to get real and provide some evidence. By the way, that would be some evidence of inappropriate wearing. Doing the equivalent of criticising Jeremy Corbyn for wearing old clothes whilst working on his allotment won't count.

Jaffa has a thing about presentation. Mostly about female presentation, but I think that he extends that to male socialist presentation.

I haven’t seen his opinions about Boris’s “hairstyle”, or Pritti’s smirk.
