Annie, thanks for posting this. Could you explain the parenthetical note for point two please? "(9 car trains at 125)"

I'd approve of the MML electrification which would be more worthwhile than HS2

The expectation is that the electric locomotives running from Sheffield to London via Derby will be 9 car trains capable of 125 mph.

There is speculation about the nature of these trains as there is no requirement for them to be new and there are lines where current stock is to be upgraded. For example current ECML will be available but are not universally thought of as being the most suitable as they have poor acceleration and arguably a less comfortable ride.

So the improvements are;

A delay to the electrification of the MML by a year

The late delivery of the 1hr 52min train to london (or is the running late comment just an observation for its punctuality when it commences)

and an expectation of tram train to only take 15 months to complete (Dec 2016 might be closer based on history of developing rail projects in south yorkshire)

If they are the improvements i wouldn't like to see the bad news

They'll be Pendolinos or even the old Class 91s

We understand that improvements may be made to the Sheffield Midland - Lincoln / Cleethorpes via Brigg lines in the near future.

With new signaling work taking place on the Lincoln line it will only be a matter of time before a better Sunday service is up and running, this is because the old style signal boxs will be replaced, sadly at present Network Rail refuse to put a morning shift in them thus meaning the first Lincoln bound train on a Sunday leaves mid afternoon :(
