Recommend a good private skin clinic..

My daughter of 8 has had some skin problems for the past few months and it seems to be bafflling our GP and the Doctors to whom she has been referred. They have concluded that she is allergic to house dust mites but the marks on her face and arms may not be a manifestation of this and these may be caused by some underlying stress. She's a happy and confident child, so I'm not sure about the latter part. I would like to have a consultation with another Professional and wonder if anbody out there has any recommendations please? Hi there,

I am not sure if your daughter is better- my child was referred by our Gp with similar issues and we managed to get an appointment at the dermatology department in Chesterfield. We saw a lovely consultant who I am sure works privately in Sheffield.

Many Thanks for the advice. We were referred to Child Dermatology who could';t get to the bottom of it after a few sessions. They then referred us to Child Psychology who very quickly agreed that my daughter is a happy and content little girl. We've been through this cycle (Doctor>Child Dermatology>Child Psychology) twice now and still no further on really, although I realise that everybody in the medical profession has tried their best. The marks seem to come up every 2 - 3 months but we cannot put our finger on anything (food, environment, activity at the time etc.) which may be the trigger. Do you happen to recall the name of this Specialist please? I'd be very keen to contact contact this individual. Many Thanks again for the reply - very much appreciated.

Hi there,

His name is Dr. Stam Oikonomou- he works at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital and he also sees patients privately. He gave me his card as I thought I might see him privately (we actually didn't have to as all was sorted with our boy) but I have misplaced it and can't find it! I did try to google him but his name doesn't come up in any of the private clinics in Sheffield. I will keep looking for this card...

Once again many thanks Nigel. I Googled the name myself but couldn't find anything. I have another avenue which may bear fruit in getting a contact number, if so I will pass it on. Hoping you won't need it, but you never know. Cheers!
