ohmyword   10 #1 Posted March 24, 2014 With all the mental mayhem going on in Ukraine with that Putin man I'm a bit worried about Donetsk Way in Sheffield. What's going to happen? I reckon a name change needs to be rushed through by the powers that be. Otherwise Sheffield could be seen to be supporting a mad man! I know we've got other twin towns (such as Bochum in Germany) but I know there's already the Bochum Parkway. So what can we do about Donetsk Way? There is a tram stop there too so I suppose all the tram leaflets and stuff will have to be amended too.
 Share this content via...
No User Name   10 #2 Posted March 24, 2014 How does naming a road after a city in Ukraine, a city that isnt in the Crimean part of Ukraine, support a "mad man"?
 Share this content via...

Blackbeard   10 #8 Posted March 24, 2014 The people of Donetsk want to be British so we don't have to change the name.  "Internet users in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk have proposed holding a mock "referendum" on whether their hometown should secede to the U.K., as Donetsk was founded by a 19th-century British industrialist.  "Donetsk is a British city! God Save the Queen," said the jocular appeal posted on social networks, following the Moscow-backed March 16 referendum on Crimea's secession from Ukraine to Russia."  http://www.themoscowtimes.com/news/article/mock-calls-for-british-city-donetsk-to-secede-from-ukraine-join-uk/496705.html
 Share this content via...
