taylor1986 Â Â 10 #1 Posted March 24, 2014 Is that an easy way to plan a route or view a map though woods? I dont mind like signal wise on the mobile but just thinking of how easy it would do? Â I hope this makes more sence that it sounds
 Share this content via...

Flexo   10 #4 Posted March 24, 2014 Use an Ordnance Survey map and a compass. Websites on orienteering will have info about how to get your bearings and plot a route.
 Share this content via...
Jomie   30 #5 Posted March 24, 2014 Woodland walks are my favourite but it is easy to get lost unless there are signposts. Will check out those links - thank you.
 Share this content via...
Rob Haslam   10 #6 Posted March 31, 2014 Check out the book "Walking South Yorkshire" on Amazon.co.uk. It fully explores all the best ancient woodlands in Sheffield and Rotherham, all mapped on OS and with good directions and historical notes. vwkittie   10 #7 Posted April 11, 2014 I use viewranger on my phone. You can plan a walk yourself on the PC then pop it on your phone to follow, or download one that someone else has created (it supports the gpx format).  Or you can just set it to track you and wander around randomly safe in the knowledge you won't get lost!  The app itself is free, you just purchase the actual OS maps to go with it (I get the 1:25000 ones)
 Share this content via...

Bruno   10 #9 Posted April 21, 2014 If you want to plot a route "OS get a map" is brill it's only a small subscription for the year it will calculate the distance as you plot, you can then either print it off or download as a Gpx file to your walking app.
 Share this content via...
