Obelix   11 #4 Posted March 11, 2014 I presume you mean in a windscreen?  If you make it too big it wont be fixable and then you will have to pay for the new screen to some extent.  It's also illegal to drive with an excessivly cracked screen, and it it does suddenly go you may not end up with glass all over the place but you could suddenly find it difficult to see properly through it as well
 Share this content via...

As i say its getting fixed/replaced tomorrow o i want to see how big i can get it. The crack is on the passenger side and behind the sun visor so i cant even see it yet. It was a passenger who pointed it out to me.
 Share this content via...
Obelix   11 #6 Posted March 11, 2014 And for the reasons listed above it's not an especially smart idea.
 Share this content via...

Google is certainly NOT my friend  ---------- Post added 11-03-2014 at 10:45 ----------  And for the reasons listed above it's not an especially smart idea.  I fully understand that. Perhaps someone has a private road or some private land i can do it on? That way theres no danger to anyone else.
 Share this content via...

Is this not the case then?
 Share this content via...
L00b   441 #10 Posted March 11, 2014 Sure.  I mean it's well known that cars are designed to be driven at speed with 'safe' bits of windscreen falling all over your lap, knees, feet <etc.> rather than hitting you in the face first, right?
 Share this content via...
barleycorn   10 #11 Posted March 11, 2014 When it was nice and small it could have been repaired, probably at no cost to yourself though your insurance*. If it has to be replaced you'll probably have to pay the excess.  jb  * worth checking whether it effects your no-claims.
 Share this content via...

I'd rather pay the excess and get a new one. You wouldn't believe the difference it makes looking through new glass compared to one that has been sandblasted by 10,000 miles of motorway driving.
