School Dinner’s

 

My favourite school dinner when I was a lad,

You could have a favourite cos they weren’t too bad,

Was beef stew and dumplings would be top of the pile,

Dinner lady would serve me with a welcoming smile,

She would say is this your favourite my little mate,

I will put an extra spoonful on to your plate,

With plate now full of this wonderful stew,

Better find myself a table and take a pew,

Now Pudding would also be a culinary delight,

Served in bowls that were blue and white,

A smile on my face was now a right beamer,

When I can see that jam and thick semolina,

This was the one that had me queuing for seconds,

Or even thirds before that lunch over bell beckons,

It would leave me full and a contented little chap,

Instead of doing lessons I was ready for a nap.
