Our 01 Plate Skoda Fabias head gasket has gone. Its not worth repairing and so I wondered where the best place was to go to have the car scrapped? Also will they come and take the car away from our house?

Yes they will collect your car,but personally I would advertise it on here mentioning the fault obviously,im sure you would get at least double the scrap value.

If they come to collect it chances are they won't pay you.

The value of scrap is very low right now, you might only get 40 quid for the entire car if you drive it down to the yard yourself.

Ebay the car, you will get more than scrap value and they will have to collect !

Well, i got 20 pounds for it, took the wing mirrors off and put the bashed doors back on, so should get about 50 quid for them, doors and mirrors.

Give Coopers a ring, they're behind the dog track in Hillsboro.

I think they've still got a hiab to take cars with.

Not sure if they've started charging to take cars now though??

Funny story, I went to a breakers yesterday to grab a part for my car.

In the car I was pulling the part from, I found £14 in loose change!

So there is money to be made!

Are there any scrapyards that will actually GIVE you money for a car instead of charging you to take it away?
