In my experience newborn's don't have the grip or focus to take good photo's!

When I was a kid, there was a guy who liked taking pictures of us. Not sure if he does newborns but he definitely did 9 year olds.

Have a look at Sitting Pretty on Facebook, she's does fantastic photos, has lovely props & is very reasonably priced. You also get a disk with al of the photos on, we've used her a few times

Hi, search for Milla Photography Studio in Google or on Facebook. Milla is a fantastic female photographer. She specializes in newborn photography. Visit the gallery on her website and look at the newborn pictures yourself. I'm sure you will become convinced that newborn photography is worth doing and that newborns do look good in the pictures. In fact, they look lovely in Milla's pictures.
