Enjoyed it but bloody.

Yes I agree but it was different to most western films I watched.

Yes as mentioned in previous post, Power of the dog, Boring,  mistake giving Cumberbatch the part,  he is too English,  his American accent was  dire.  :gag:

yes I can remember your review about Power of the dog now.

I think you might enjoy The Sisters Brothers.  I recorded it but I’m sure it’s still on iplayer.

Captain Phillips  (2013).

Never a given which is going to be the better, the book or the film.

In this case, the book.

So much detail is missing in the film, anyone who has read the book can only be disappointed.

As a film in its own rights, its very good, but rushes the actual story.

A lot of the violence and terror in the book just isn't there in the film.

Events are missed or lessened in severity and clarity, I even get a feeling the film was dumbed down not to offend the PC brigade.

A good part of the book deals with how the family of Captain Phillips family cope while he is held hostage, and after his return.

None of this is even mentioned in the film :suspect:.

Worth watching?

In its own right - yes.   7.5/10.

Keep safe 8) .

Watched Greyhound with Tom Hanks the other night, US destroyer escorts a convoy across the atlantic, perused by a U-boat wolf pack, its a decent watch if you like war films, Hanks plays the skipper with Stephen Graham his 2nd in command, obviously the plots an easy one to figure, but for all that I quite enjoyed it.

7/10

Still with Tom Hanks. I watched 'Cast Away' for the umpteenth time last night. Can never decide if that or 'The Terminal' are my favourite Hanks movie. Either way, I'd give both 10.

Even though I've seen 'Cast Away' many a time, it's still tense. Still makes me cringe when I see the 'toothache' ice-skate shot. Still get torn up when I see him in the scenes with Helen Hunt. Still dig the ambiguous make-up-your-own-mind ending. "Alright then. Good luck cowboy...".

In The Heat of the Night (1969) Sidney Poitier & Rod Steiger (BBC 2)  Small town racism in 60s America, proper actor's and title song by Ray Charles, great watch 9/10.

Surprised to see it in colour then realised  when I last saw the film we didn't have a colour TV.
