Rate The Last Film You've Seen With Marks Out Of Ten - Part Two

9/10

Just watched again I Walk The Line - The Johnny Cash Story.

Can't say I'm a Johnny Cash fan, but I love music and Joaquin Phoenix and Reece Witherspoon both give a mesmerising performance, very watchable.

The Bombardment (Netflix 2022)

AKA Shadow in my eye (for IMDB cast & crew)

This years 'Must watch' movie 10/10.

Has to be the best 'War' film we've watched in a long time.

Based on true events.

Excellent filming.

Not going to give any spoilers - but would like to know what others think.

Keep safe 8) .

Black Crab (Netflix) - 7/10

Swedish film set in a Sweden that has been torn apart in a brutal civil war and the general collapse of civilisation. Noomi Rapace is one of six soldiers selected for a desperate mission by the side that is losing to cross 100 miles of frozen archipelago sea ice to avoid the enemy and deliver a package behind their lines.

Ticks about every cliche for movies about people crossing ice or on a mission that you can think of and the final third just isn't as good as what comes before but the story and performances are reasonably good, the visuals and action are also good and the almost John Carpenter-esqe soundtrack fits it perfectly.

The Batman  8/10

I waited a while before deciding to watch this on the big screen- mostly because it was a near 3hr film and I also  held the view that nobody could outshine Nolan and Bale (director/ actor Batman trilogy).

But I have to say, Robert Patterson surprised me with his portrayal of Batman- and the director Reeves has really done a great job.

This is the type of Batman later comics portrayed- dark, angry and vengeful.

Paul Dano as the Riddler is also very good, but for me , Colin Farrel transformation into playing the Penguin, is remarkable- I honestly cannot believe that's him under the makeup.

Dune 2021 8/10.

Great visuals and good story so far but a bit too slow paced and long for me.

7's good enough for me - above average.

All war films don't have to be rat a tat tat of machineguns and super hero types coming to the rescue.

This film goes beyond that and captures how ordinary folk get caught up in what, unfortunately is a true story.

Keep safe out there 8) .

Mulholland Falls - 6/10

A young woman is found murdered in the desert in mysterious circumstances. An LA police detective called to the scene realises he had an affair with the murder victim.  Soon after he is sent a film showing the same woman secretly filmed with another man and wonders whether the same thing happened to him.

Great ensemble cast for a neo-noir crime thriller that doesn't quite manage to have enough mystery to work but is entertaining enough.
