tinfoilhat   11 #733 Posted June 14, 2015 The hobbit - part 1. 12 short jocks take their grandad on a walking holiday in the lakes or some such. Felt it had a running time of a week and half. Plans are a foot to put part two in the planner. I suspect a sky box malfunction! 6/
 Share this content via...
top4718 Â Â 838 #734 Posted June 16, 2015 Halloween II (1981) - 5.5/10 - Ludicrous in places but the last half hour is quite effective, pity it didn't end here and we wouldn't have had to suffer the many execreble sequels and remakes. steve68 Â Â 66 #738 Posted June 21, 2015 The overnight 8/10 we went to a preview this morning, it's a funny film with general nude bits flapping around, although nothing too over the top. Â a few people walked out which was even more funny, but Its really not the kind film you should be going to see your parents and grandparents on a Sunday morning family day out. tinfoilhat   11 #739 Posted June 21, 2015 Lucy. Not bad (liked the little wildlife montages chucked in) but not as good as it could have been. Don't know whose teeth Morgan freeman was using but they weren't his. 6.5/
 Share this content via...
Jeffrey Shaw   90 #740 Posted June 21, 2015 Q: why did 'Tomorrowland' receive such dire critiques? It's not a bad film at all. 6/10.
 Share this content via...
top4718 Â Â 838 #741 Posted June 22, 2015 The Shining - 9.5/10 - Kubricks masterpiece is the best horror film of all time, starts off eerie and creepy from the opening bars of the title theme and never lets up, superb.
 Share this content via...
mimic   10 #742 Posted June 23, 2015 Poltergeist (2015) 5.5/10  Ok but lacking in so many ways compared to the first one. It's not a bad film but maybe they shouldn't have tried so hard to copy the original.
 Share this content via...

Funky_Gibbon   42 #744 Posted July 19, 2015 Zulu (no, not that one...) - 7.5/10  A film set in South Africa and starring Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker about two cops investigating the murder of the woman which somehow connects to a new illegal drug and the disappearance of street children from the townships.  Given that this has Orlando Bloom in it I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it and how good he was in it. This film is almost a throwback to classic 80s cop movies but seemed fresh because of the unusual setting. Had to mark it down 0.5 due to having one of the most unintentionally funny chase scenes in cinema history.   Last Knights - 6/10  A kind of medieval fantasy in which Clive Owen and a band of warriors are exiled because Morgan Freeman refused to pay a bribe to an evil flunky of the Emperor. Said evil flunky then gets worried that these warriors might want revenge and so builds himself an impregnable fortress and... you get the picture.  Clive Owen slips back into his King Arthur character without bothering to wake up, Morgan Freeman does his gravitas bit... overall though the film isn't that bad. It certainly had a fair amount of money spent on the set design and CGI for straight-to-DVD fare and there are tons of recognisable actors in it. A 'leave your brain at home and just enjoy it' kinda film.
 Share this content via...
