The Strangers 2 - Prey at Night 7/10

 

 

I actually quite enjoyed this.

The first one is the only film Ive ever watched that even came close to scaring me, it wasnt one particular thing about it, more a combination of things.

This didnt scare me at all, but its still a decent film in its own right.

Good soundtrack too.

 

I also like this one. It has that vibe of 80 slasher horror, it's cheap but still fun.

Not bad at all, agree with your rating. I like the way the producers present an eerie sense of menace from the local population even before the incident happens.

I saw the ending coming a mile off, it was always gonna go the way it did, based on the contrasting actions taken by the two lads during the film and the unity shown by the villagers. . .

 

Has anybody seen Sicario: Day of the Soldado yet?

 

The original was brutal, bloody and brilliant.

 

I am worried the sequel will be the first two only because the directors have tried to cram in too many sub-stories that will ruin the film.

 

Mexican drug dealers are smuggling in Islamic terrorists over the border now? For what purpose? To preach an anti-drug message before they kill you?

I think they did really well with an obviously low budget. Its creepy, gory, tense and well acted.

I didnt know anything about it before watching it and I think thats the best way, even the movie poster gives it away a bit too much.

My only minor criticism is at times it feels likes theres a bit too much going on, without any explanations.

 

I enjoyed it. A good, old fashioned horror movie

Super Troopers (2001)

 

A comedy about a group of inept Highway Patrol officers in danger of losing their jobs to the regular police.

 

6/10 - quite funny but I got the feeling I was missing some in-jokes or references because I'd not seen this group's (Broken Lizard) work before.

It was. I've seen worst casts but if the title sounds like it's syfy channel b movie it will probably be written like a syfy channel b movie.
