MP says Hendersons Relish is a copy

Recommended Posts

Jim Dowd, MP for Lewisham West and Penge, Said, in parliament, that in a London pub he asked for Worcester Sauce and was given something called Hendedrsons Relish, which appeared to be something from Sheffield.

He used it as an example of well known products being undercut by cheap imitations.

Nick Clegg is a Sheffield MP.

Ask him to immediately refute this dreadful slur on a famous Sheffield product.

If this is true Jim Dowd should be banned from all of Yorkshire.

they see things slightly differently in Worcester http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/10951427.There__39_s_only_one_Worcestershire_Sauce_says_MP/?ref=nt

good question though - how come the bottles are so similar and both orange labels? you can understand why those from outside of this realm might assume it was a straight up copy....and was it, 100 years ago?

What's it got to do with Clegg? This prat is a Labour MP; there's a fair few of his colleagues that should be able to put him straight.

So what's his issue with Worcester Sauce?

Surely his issue should be with the pub that served him a different sauce to that requested (or "Sorry Sir, we don't have WS, would Sir like Hendersons instead?")

It's like asking for Mayonnaise and getting Salad Cream - you wouldn't be moaning that Salad Cream was copying Mayo, you would be saying "excuse me, I asked for Mayonnaise, not Salad Cream"

The bloke's an idiot. All the qualifications needed to be an MP.

Similar branding but different source.

Also Henderson's has been around for 100 years, I think perhaps that someone may have taken them to court if they ever thought it was infringing on anything.

Just another MP who hasn't got his facts right.

Supermarkets do try and mimic brands though and should rightly be pulled up for it.

If Hendersons is a copy, what foul fluid are they imitating?

It's nothing like the delicious Worcestershire Sauce.

hendersons tastes nothing like worchester sauce...i am addicted to bloody marys so im well aware of this.

worchester sauce is not suitable for use by vegetarians where hendersons is.

two completely different products which are labelled similar.
