Anyone Have Any Memories of Prince Naseem Hamed

He was a brilliant boxer. I don't care what he was like as a person.

Sadly yes, i did. And he still owes me money from when he lost a bet. I bet him Eubank would win the first fight he had with Benn and he did but the miserable tight wad never paid up.

Cool. When he was still at school!

I always read he was bullied at school thats why he took up boxing. Didn't think people who got bullied acted like *****, maybe thats why he got bullied!

Some people use that negativity to turn things around in their own lives. I mean, what is he going to do ? Stay around and be bullied even more and then get on the social benefit level ? Whereby he too would then be critical, miserable, and give back the back lips to those who bullied him ?

I was going to say, many people may appreciate him because of what he did. A lot of people do the same too. Even Alan Sugar was the same. He had to "buy and sell" in the estate that he lived in in order to turn his little fortune around. Nobody dares actually now to drag his name through the mud.

Why? Because those individuals know that he has now the money to sue his ass off. He too can be more moral now, now that his own interests and families are looked after.

Swings and roundabouts.

I thought it was interesting to read the wiki article because it seems that he literally entered and truly embedded himself into the boxing world. Who can really comment if they are not part of that kind of world to begin with ? Maybe he let a lot of people down, and could've trained harder and harder. Or he could use publicity to push himself upwards like many other Sports person to begin with like Murry. To sell clothing, modelling and so forth, in order to gain the marketing buy in. Therefore to embed themselves in the industry that they are a part of, regardless of whether that industry is their destiny to begin with.

Boxing is not my thing, so good luck to him.

This country had always been a case of "we like a trier", but if you fall off a step then it is a case of "no, we don't like you all that much any more".

If I was in the shoes of these people, then I would try going to church again to question my beliefs and not to put my own hopes on a celebrity. Someone whom I do not even know ??? What is that about ?

memories i have, i was a teen when i used to see him around in his very nice cars. Remembering him owning a 22b subaru impreza, only ever one ive seen in the flesh til this day. me and my mates used to call him names and think he was an idiot. it was only til i grew up and took an interest in boxing i actually realised how good he was for the sport and for sheffield. he was arrogant but true boxing fans can understand why fighters act like this, its to sell tickets. i think the arrogance really wasnt him.

i dont think he was good for sheffield at all pal...i'm yet to meet anyone that actually liked him.

A whole thread to berate a single man. Even this is a bit low for this forum, isn't it ? I hope the mods do something.

You didnt even know who he is.

You dont know why people hold the opinion they do. Seems to be pretty consistent of people having a low opinion of him.

Why not report the thread if you think it is that out of order?

Btw my dislike of him is for the following reasons:

He changed once he became successful. Incredibly arrogant beyond his ability. He was not a nice person.

He got very greedy and cut people out who had made him a success.

He stitched up the people who had helped him be a success because of money.

He got even more arrogant.

He was a hypocrite.

He ruined someone elses life with the car accident, but was triumphalist and unrepentant about his role in it.

He tried to get him jailed.

His career nosedived because of his greed. Thats up to him though.

He is not a person to admire, but quite the opposite.

Ofc he wouldnt give a monkeys because he has money to protect him and this is just a forum. Doesnt mean that ordinary people have to like him and cant have an opinion over him. Go and complain to the mods salsafan.

Great boxer and entertainer in the ring until he decided to leave Brendan and then it

all went pear shaped.

Knocked about with some wronguns and decided he could do what he wanted including

parking in Disabled bays etc etc.

He was arrogant but a brilliant boxer until he moved away from his mentor Brendan.

Don't most Super Stars go this way.

Huh ? How did you figure this out ? How do you actually know what I know ? I don't have to join the mobfest.

I actually know him through family connection, but no, I do not socialise with him and so forth, and no, I would not publically berate him either. He is more of an acquaintance. And I accept that he is an acquaintance. I do not get onto this sportsman/celeb bandwagon at all.

I know why people hold the opinion that they do. I could still choose how I respond to that and if I should side with them or not. But do you think that others know and think about how their "opinions" are seen and is classed as socially ? Cos the judgment would not be on the guy but on them. I have as low an opinion of those who gossips to such a high extent that they actually break a family apart. That is why I do not read gossip magazines or even read trashy newspapers. Life has more to offer to be frank ! You just work yourself up over absolutely nothing at all.

How do you know I have not ? I thought that I would write a comment in an adult way, rather than stabbing people in the back.

By the way, even if I dislike someone like a celebrity, I don't actually go around and trash this person's name. As much as I dislike Jamie Oliver, I too would not join in the mobfest. Cos at the end of the day, you only hurt yourself inside. You do. For letting the anger flow. On someone whom you are not even connected with any way, or wants to be close to. So why put yourself through this kind of pain ?

Anyway, I do not have anything more to say. Since obviously I am not you, and nor am I going to get onto an argument with you over someone who I do not have an emotional bond with. I just wanted to point out the unfairness and that horrible mobfest gossip attitude, cos it can get out of line. That was all. I have done it. It is down to people what they decide to do.
