Anyone Have Any Memories of Prince Naseem Hamed

Does anyone have any memories of Prince Naseem Hamed?

Legendary boxer.

couldn't stand the bloke,i found him an arrogant embarrasment.....total bell end that was rightfully but on his backside when he finally went in the ring with someone with real skill and class..

the only person in the history of mankind to be more annoying than he was his younger brother.

A friend of my daughter lived next door to him and apparently he had cardboard cutouts of himself lining his living room.

So many people had these stories (although this is plausible! )

It was always "my friend lives near this lad whose friend knocked Naseem out in a chip shop" or some other embellishment.

Fantastic showman, but an arrogant kn*b head in real life...

^^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I remember him from his 'working' days at Ashfords.

A total tool of the highest order. He also was on the receiving end of a slap from one of the laborers who was sick to the back teeth of him.

Ahhh great days :D

He was in the year between my brother and me at school, we used to walk home with him sometimes.

He was small and quiet, and actually got bullied a bit, which I think is why he started boxing in the first place.

I was once friends with someone called Eric Booker who worked at Cybercentre at Crystal Peaks back in the day.

And he said that someone told him that Prince was in line for the cinema at Meadowhall once and he tried to push in front and that he confronted the steward at the front and that the steward said he would knock him out if he did not stop pushing in thus Naseem not seeing the film.

Not sure if that is true as I was quite gullible in my late teens.

The title of this thread is a bit misleading...I too thought he had died

I once served him in M&S, he was with his dolly bird missus

they were buying loads of lingerie

I presume they were for her :suspect:

I was surprised how small he was, she was taller than him

that's it, that's my memory of him :)

My overriding memory of him was his bizarre and spectacular ring entrances.

But another memory was his cocky personality and short lived reign in America.

Sorry if my post has mis-led anyone - it wasn't intended to, perhaps the mods could change it make reference to his "time in the limelight" or something so it doesn't suggest something has happened to him.

The reason I posted is that I was a big fan of his but know he splits opinion.

Perhaps it should have been posted in Sports section so apologies.

I have seen him a couple of times in Crookesmoor over the years, inspecting the large hole in the ground that he used to own. A small, very fat man with a convoy of black Range Rovers.
