Unitedite   10 #27 Posted January 30, 2014 I've seen the Superbowl at the Grosvenor and enjoyed it, but if I watch it this year I'll be at home and sober. Why on Earth do they schedule it on a Sunday?
 Share this content via...

liam_p91 Â Â 10 #29 Posted February 1, 2014 Anyone know of any places in town/eccy road that's showing the Super Bowl tomorrow night? I know champs already has tickets and already enquired at common rooms and the walkabout, waiting for a reply. Does anyone know any other places where tickets may still be available or a place where you don't need tickets
 Share this content via...

But don't comment on any of the other suggestions on this thread. Give over James, really unprofessional.  Common Room only reserve tables with a package, you can still go in there free but would not be guaranteed seating. Napoleons on Eccy Road are also showing it and are offering a free American Buffet. So plenty of options.
 Share this content via...

Give over James, really unprofessional.   Not 'diss' but pointing out fact, most people have a big TV at home. If I am going out to watch sport I would want something I don't get at home. You also miss the wink suggesting it is slightly tongue in cheek.
 Share this content via...

ECCOnoob   1,050 #35 Posted February 2, 2014 I've seen the Superbowl at the Grosvenor and enjoyed it, but if I watch it this year I'll be at home and sober. Why on Earth do they schedule it on a Sunday?  Well one guess is that like most other major sporting events they schedule it when most people are off work. i.e. on a Sunday.  The big event in America (where it belongs) is obviously starting early evening with plenty of time to enjoy the game/half time show/flash of breasts whatever and have a tipple or two without having an issue getting up for work.  Over here of course unfortunatley those who want to watch the event have to put up with early hours of the morning.  Personally I dont get it. Its an American Sport with very little or no interest over here 364 days of the year but suddenly its Superbowl weekend and everyone and their mothers are throwing parties and looking for venues to watch it. I would be surprised if there would be many Americans throwing FA cup parties and bar venues live streaming the Six Nations.  All seems very bizarre to me, but hey, knock yourselves out and have a good one..... or whatever they say. When I lived there I had to drive 1hr south to Boston even to find a bar that will show 'soccer', but you know Britain loves being Americanised, look at the upturn in BBQ restaurants all of a sudden!  The games here at Wembley have helped, but tbf the only game I make any effort to watch is the final. My favorite is the 'World Series', of which only America is invited to play lol.
 Share this content via...
