FreeCakeShef   10 #1 Posted January 7, 2014 Free Cakes for Kids Sheffield bake birthday cakes for disadvantaged children in the city.  We think every child in Sheffield should have a cake on their special day and we work with local food banks, refuges, homeless charities, the NHS and schools who then refer families to us for a cake. Here are the cakes our volunteers have made so far.  We're holding our launch event on Saturday 15 February from 1.30am - 3pm at The Carpenter Room, Sheffield Central Library, Surrey St, Sheffield S1 1XZ (upstairs as you walk in)  At the event, you'll be able to sample delicious cakes on our cake stall, browse a great collection of second hand cookbooks and much more: Meet our very special guests Have your chance to win a Showstopper Cake in our raffle 'Ask the Expert' on our baking Q+A stall Sign up as a volunteer Request a cake for a child in Sheffield  It costs about £5 to make and decorate a birthday cake and we hope to raise money to make many more. Please come along and support our fantastic cause - we’d love to see you there!  It's totally free and if you'd like to register to come along, please sign up here. Otherwise, just come along to the library on the day.  If you'd like to donate a cookbook for us to sell and raise funds, please email us at freecakesforkidssheffield@gmail.com and we'll arrange to collect it.  Thank you for your support - hope to see lots of you there.
