Polystyrene ceiling tiles

Recommended Posts

I'm going to GUESS that these are quite likely to be "old fashioned" ones - as an example

You will note that they are described as "for craft use" and only hint at another use "also known as ceiling tiles" - but they come up in a Google Product Search (which is now paid) for "polystyrene ceiling tiles" which could be just wasteful broad-match keyword setting or could be marketing them as ceiling tiles without actually being seen to be doing so

Regardless of whether they are safe or dangerous, they should still be outlawed for looking tacky.

It's strange there appears to be no clear legislation like there is for furniture for example. Is it because they aren't used very much? None fire retardant polystyrene ceiling tiles are a death trap.

I saw them in the diy chains a few years ago. They were much bigger than the regular (12" x 12"?) ones but...you could still get the 'cracked ice' version & the coving!

Ive the dvd with the pif showing the dangers of gloss paint on polystyrene tiles - scary stuff.
