Dancing with your friends

Recommended Posts

You what?! :o

Thrashing and flailing is not dancing.

It reaches a point when a structure starts to form, i will then repeat certain bits that feel good. It seems like dancing anyway, it feels great. All eyes on me.

It’s been a really good festive period for me. I got some cool presents for starters, but the best thing about it has been something I realised is a really good thing to do – dancing with friends!

Me and my friends have never really done this before, but on Boxing Day we had a party and put stuff like Missy Elliot, Akon, Busta Rhymes, Kula Shaker, etc on the stereo. We’d had a few bottles of wine for sure, and we just got into the groove. We had frozen food snacks too and we just did moves in the living room. Shuffle moves mostly, so no spins / locks / holds I must stress. Mostly just steppin’ moves. Basically we started at about 8pm and were just finishing dancing at about 1 in the morning (1am!!). It’s weird that we’d never really thought to do this but we’re well into it now. We’re going to have another dancing party in the new year but this time with more music and also dips to go with some of the frozen food.

Does anyone else like dancing with their friends?

I used to like dancing, pity you'd no decent music though

Hmm, obviously that's a matter of opinion, but me and my mates like dancing to this:

BUSTA RHYMES

MISSY ELLIOTT

RIZZLE KICKS (down with the trumpets)

EMINEM (new album - whoooo!!!)

KULA SHAKER

SWAY

DIZZEE RASCAL

KANYE WEST

The best is Missy Elliott for the grid moves, but for the more straight out 'dope' jerks it's defo Dizzee Rascal.

You know this is going over most people's heads, right?

Eminem tunes are terrible to dance to unless remixed. Same with Busta.

Missy tunes are all good though. Just the right type for 'street' dancing.

Sway has a few decent danceable tunes.

I presume you were trolling with the Rizzle Kicks suggestion. :suspect:

It's mostly remixed stuff we have by Eminem. That one where he starts with a speech about grabbing your chances, then it does this "wawawawa" noise and really kicks in. That's when me and my friends just on the settee.

Rizzle Kicks is OK - it's only that trumpets song we like though. What's up with them man?

Don't get me wrong I like Kula Shaker but they're a bit out of place in that list.

I hate dacinging, I hate dancing on TV, Stricly and Dancing on Ice make me want to cave my own head in.

I would rather be murdered than watch 1 minute of stomp, and it's one of the reasons I hate being invited to weddings...I can't dance.

Then someone goes:

"Come on why are you not dancing"

"I can't dance"

"Come on stop being miserable"

"I'm not being miserable, I just can't dance. I can't play piano, you wouldn't ask me to have a go at that"

"Just come on"

"Fine" (Goes to dance)

"Wow you're a terrible dancer"

".............."

i can't dance either and people just don't seem to get it when i tell them i can't dance. i get well meaning people saying "anyone can dance" then dragging me onto the dance floor and trying to move my arms for me. looks awful and makes me feel like a prized prat.
