jackie tan   10 #38 Posted December 27, 2013 I work for a local UPC window company, I think Emmarigley is right. We manufacture a average window for approx £100. kier or contractors get paid approx £25 to fit it. So for £120.00 you get a quality, high energy efficiency window, no maintenance, painting for 5 years. (Narden dee) saying it needs painting & repairing there is 2 trades there! Plus timber putty and paint probably cost approx £250.00! And your left with a stuck painted up window which you cannot open by these cowboys/ so called trade people. . . . . I live on handsworth we had ours done 5 years ago from a great company called Total Refurb. . . ( completed my bathroom and kitchen ) all signed off in 13 working days or 2 and a half weeks from start to finish. . . Ask for them
 Share this content via...
kal el   11 #39 Posted December 27, 2013 I been having problems with my light in the kitchen.  In the past 3 weeks I have put in 4 new starters and 3 bulbs. I phoned kier up and was told that they will not come out to fix it as its not a priority. I spent the whole of Monday morning on the phone with the idiots that they employ in their call centre trying to get someone to speak to me and tell me why having no lights is not a priority. I was told to put a lamp in the kitchen so that I can cook.  What is this Council doing?:loopy:
 Share this content via...

Narden Dee   10 #43 Posted December 28, 2013 Why is it not a priority, what are we still stuck in the Victorian age.  Because as you have been advised you can use a lamp/torch to get by when it goes dark if you can't understand that then I pity you  It isn't a health & Safety issue and no one is going to die so that is why it isn't a priority
 Share this content via...
Ms Macbeth   73 #44 Posted December 29, 2013 Because as you have been advised you can use a lamp/torch to get by when it goes dark if you can't understand that then I pity you It isn't a health & Safety issue and no one is going to die so that is why it isn't a priority  Exactly. A similar thing happened to us one winter, the circuit for all the overhead lights needed repairing, so we had to move table lamps and torches to wherever we were in our house. We waited several days before an electrician could fit us in, and then we had to pay for it ourselves.
 Share this content via...

I put the light on this morning and Its gone again. Any suggestions narden dee?  Yes ring them back explain the situation and ask to speak to a supervisor (someone from the HM&E section that deal with electrics) and ask for a test. Anything else you want me to do that you could easily do yourself:rolleyes: it still wasn't a priority though
 Share this content via...
kal el   11 #47 Posted January 13, 2014 I have taken a look at the fitting and it seems that one of the conections is hanging off the light fitting itself. Its not making a conection so the light wont come on. i have tried to glue it back on as instructed by kier buy it wont hold.
