leviathan13   348 #877 Posted July 22, 2014 I thought the WC by and large was boring. Many teams playing for a penalty shoot out from the start.  Holland were perhaps the most defensive of the lot considering their talent pool.  Thought Alexis Sanchez was the best player of the tournament by some.  After 90 minutes F.I.F.A might do well to put in place a reduction of players to nine to stop this penalty shoot out becoming the norm.  Actually I think football in general, the game would be much better off with 10 a side.  Will never happen of course.  Personally speaking - you either just aren't really that fond of football anyway, or you watched a totally different tournament.  You can't play for penalties from the start as they only come in to play from the start of the knockout stages.  Holland beat Spain 5-1, Australia 3-2 after being behind, and Brazil 3-0 in the match for 3rd place... 11 goals in 3 games is hardly defensive.  And most of the people I've spoken to, and read and heard from in the media, it was one of the most successful tournaments on the pitch, for a change. Especially with records being broken left, right and centre.  Then again, that's just my most humble of opinions.
 Share this content via...
