Mr Bloom   10 #2 Posted December 2, 2013 Graves has been one for years. It's disgraceful and time the council started using CCTV and issuing hefty fines to irresponsible dog owners, including those that allow their dogs to run free amongst it and then jump up at you or your children when they have it all over their paws. Streetfarce   10 #3 Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Yes they should certainly do somethign about it, the owners are absolutely disgusting,  most people clear up the mess but obviously a hard core of irresponsible scum don't and they need targeting. there are very real health hazards to anyone coming into contact with the vile mess. The lawmakers and the council try to get people out and getting excercise, but at the same time slap parking charges onto users, and then allow the place to become a giant filthy cess pit.  Same applies for Graves park by the sound of it. sedith   19 #4 Posted December 2, 2013 From my experience only around 50% of the dog walkers pick up their animal's droppings. If they think nobody is looking they just walk on and leave it. Then you have the ones that hang their blue bags containing droppings on tree branches. I would ban dogs from the city's parks and let the children play there safely. WallBuilder   10 #5 Posted December 2, 2013 I walk in the park fairly often and haven't noticed a huge increasse in dog poo although you'll always get some owners who don't carry a few plastic bags with them, the usual culprirs are those who drive to the park and allow the dog out for a few minutes before returning to the car. Squiggs   11 #7 Posted December 2, 2013 Ban dogs from public parks!!!!!  What would happen then, is that responsible dog walkers would be inconvenienced, and irresponsible ones who ignore the ban on leaving dog poo would ignore the ban on dogs especially at this time of year when the evening dog-walk is in the dark.  In the daytime the problem would be shifted to the grass verges and pavements.  So a ban would probably not actually solve anything
 Share this content via...

Streetfarce   10 #10 Posted December 2, 2013 It would solve the OPs problem because dogs would not be in the park and therefore, hopefully, no dog ****.  Yes that would be great, but dogs are actually banned from a part of the park, where the swings etc are, so that area should in theory be safe for Children to play. medusa   16 #12 Posted December 2, 2013 A ban wouldn't be necessary if the dog licence of maybe £250 pa was re introduced and proceeds of the levy spent on clearing up the mess.  Which would again penalise the responsible owners and be ignored by those who already don't follow rules and laws.  The Dangerous Dogs Act should mean that all pit bulls have disappeared by now (since it became illegal to breed them over 15 yeara ago) but if they're still around then that says something about how some people obey the rule of law, doesn't it?
