£1.50 for Gravy !!!!!!

Went there yesterday, service is poor and the main course wasn't too good either, have to pay £1.50 extra for gravy to go with Yorkshire pudd, meal too dry without it. Veg must have just been dipped in hot water. Small portions not available.!!!!!!

The £1.50 price quoted is for a specialist Merlot Gravy, which is really the equivalent of a sauce and same price as the blue cheese, peppercorn or béarnaise sauces. According to the menu all Sunday lunch choices can be served as half portions at half price and a number of other dishes can be ordered in smaller portions along with a children's selection.

You should not have to go to the trouble of "raising it with the Manager"...............just don't go again!

Why not! it gives them the opportunity to put things right and ensure things are better for the next customer and deal with the areas of underperformance whether that be staff, ingredients or the actual preparation.

I agree if you didn't like don't return, but at least let them know why otherwise they will think all was ok.

Can't speak highly enough of this place. Have been there about 5 times since it opened; I love the decor, the staff are brilliant, I've been in with my husband and 2 (very small) children and they seem love it there too, it's very comfortable and welcoming. so far have only had pizzas there as it is quite pricey, (really good pizzas by the way) but it's worth it to have somewhere really lovely to go once every couple of weeks. Such a huge improvement on the Fulwood Inn!

What response did you get when you raised these issues with the manager?

Sorry but we asked for a smaller portion and the waitress said they didn't do them and we were also refused a child's portion. I asked couldn't they just not put as much on the plate and we were given a blank look we were willing to pay full price for a smaller portion just so that I would not be over faced with too much on my plate.

I went to try one of their pizzas made in their 'wood burning' oven. I was disappointed to see that it in fact runs on gas.

I'd give the pizza 7.5 out of 10. The pepperoni on mine was not of a particularly good quality but the base was nice and fresh and well cooked. The garlic bread was delicious. service was friendly and they've done a great job of the refit. I'd go again. The pizzas aren't cheap but we shared a pizza and a garlic bread between 2 and there was more than enough.

A pint of hand pulled is about £3.20 so not 3 Pints of beer.

Finally made it to the Florentine in a party of nine on New Years Eve and I’ve got to say that, overall, I was really impressed. The refurb is absolutely spot on. They’ve managed to retain the grandeur of the place but at the same time given it a nice modern feel. The staff were really friendly and the food also did not disappoint. We had five children in our group and there are lots of options for them, all pizzas are half price for half sized as are most of the other options as well as the usual childrens favorites. I had steak which was cooked to perfection, while most other people had various pizzas, all of which received great reviews, and although I’m no expert, the slice I tried was certainly the nicest I’ve had in Sheffield. The pint of real ale I had was well kept and the house wine excellent. Gripes? Well, they got one of the pizza orders wrong and the steaks could have done with a handful more chips, a bit annoying to be having to ration them when you’re paying these prices. So, minor gripes aside, a lovely evening and a place I’d recommend, especially for a family meal.

Went in on Saturday night. First time since they had their refurb.

Pretty much everything that went wrong did go wrong. We had a table booked for 14 at 8pm and didn't sit down till 8:45. Got given two bottles of wine as a thank you for our patience but half of the table weren't drinking alcohol as they were driving.

Then we seemed to have to wait ages before our orders were taken. Was just gone 10 when our meals finally made it to the table. When we were supposed to sit at 8! One of the food orders was wrong (And the food, whilst good, is incredibly pricey in my opinion) and then they tried charging us 15 meals instead of 14.

Some of that is just unfortunate. Maybe they can't handle big parties? But for it all to go wrong at once was too much for us. We complained to the manager and we each got £2 back for our troubles. £2! So I won't be in any rush to head back. I think it attracts a certain kind of middle class clientele and I'll leave them to it. I think other Sheffield venues offer much better at better prices.

That actually sounds pretty generous, but doesn't make up for the rest of your nigght I guess.

Bobbed along here for 3rd visit yesterday. No major issues with the food though the wife's chicken had been overcooked and was a little dry. The main issue was that the staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other rather than serving us. We had to specifically ask for menu's and orders be taken for deserts which is pretty poor.

And I was served a cup of tea that was only half full. On asking for a top up, the tea was sorted but the staff were obviously laughing about it as I left the bar.

Decent enough food generally but not sure I'll bother returning for a fourth visit.
