Volunteer for the homeless.

Very rewarding and puts all the stress and pressure of xmas day into perspective for these people truly have nothing :)

Have a lovely self indulgent day on your own: nice food, good wine, and feet up in front of good telly. It's not the end of the world, and some people having the 'traditional family Christmas' would happily swap places with you.

Christmas has been built up into this enormous ritual of expectation which rarely lives up to reality for most people. So just enjoy it in you're own way, and stop imagining everyone else must be having a better time than you. Life's not like the adverts.

I have always wanted to do this but could never find anywhere that wanted any help.

For reasons of a job at Meadowhall who insist on destroying Christmas for its employees this isn't an option, working either side, Christmas eve and Boxing day.

Did you try the Archer Project (back of the cathedral) or Ben's Place, both homeless charities.

Was going to say the same

Failing that gather up as many warm jumpers, blankets, sandwiches etc and hit the streets looking for them

Most are sooo happy that you have even taken the time to sit and talk with them awhile x

That my friend I'm genuinely sorry for you about that, and yes M'Hall & the shops don't give a fig about the employees.
