SpiderPete   10 #1 Posted November 8, 2013 I have noticed there is never any bins in train stations, and isnt it annoying.  You buy a sandwich and can of pop waiting for the train to arrive, then it is late, so you are sat there enjoying your sandwich and a can of pop.  You finish your sandwich and can of pop ... and .... guess what ..... no bins around.... you end up taking your rubbish with you on the train.  I am not sure if it is policy for train stations not to put bins out, but it is annoying ..... why no bins ?????  Does this annoy anyone else or is it just me.   rant over .....   and first thread for years I have done, I dont normally rant but this is the place to rant now
 Share this content via...
beansforyou   10 #2 Posted November 8, 2013 It's their fight against terrorism.  Their policy is that if there are no bins it will foil the attempts of the terrorists as they will have no where to put their bombs.  True story. Daid   10 #3 Posted November 8, 2013 Sheffields streets is the place for rubbish now.  Isn't it a throwback to terrorist attacks from yonks ago when the Southern Irish liked us a lot less than they might do now.
 Share this content via...

Agent Orange   11 #5 Posted November 8, 2013 I believe this act goes all the way back to the height of IRA activities in the UK. Bins were a favourite place to deposit IEDs, and I believe stations were targetted at the time. Stations were forced to act, therefore bins were removed. Super Hans   10 #6 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) Train stations are high risk terrorist locations, bins are perfect places to hide bombs.  The ones with clear plastic bags are even more vulnerable IMO because a bomb would cause much more damage if it didn't have a big metal bin case to contend with.  Yeah, but that's the reason. SpiderPete   10 #7 Posted November 8, 2013 I am sure if they wanted to blow up a train station they would find other locations, like the toilets, or other hiding places, like in a suitcase.  I want my own bin
 Share this content via...
1978 Â Â 14 #8 Posted November 8, 2013 But there are bins on many, if not most, of the smaller stations, presumably because they aren't perceived to be at risk of terrorist attack. Andy C Â Â 86 #10 Posted November 8, 2013 most stations do have bins now although it has to be a clear plastic bag so staff can visually inspect it for suspect items.
