Heeley City Farm - thieves again

Recommended Posts

Yes the piglet thing was horrible so was the fire that killed and maimed many animals but years down the line we still have HCF moaning they don't have money for security.

I don't see any moaning at all, a topic was made and a member from the farm has commented! Been a big contributor to the farm have you Wallace, to say where the funds are spent and what should have priority?

Good for starters that it is found.

As said, it is not moaning, it's a big plot, and who wants to go to a prison like environment.

What about that big pond at the bottom. Is there any money to clear that tip up? Why has it been left in such dissaray? Why build it in the first place just to let it go to pot and bolt the gate? Me and my young lad used to have fun times there.

I'm sure Heeley City Farm would be delighted if you and your son volunteered to clean it up or organised a team of volunteers to do so :)

Do you have the faintest idea how many volunteers the farm already has?

Well you've highlighted an area of neglect in an amenity you've enjoyed, so Im sure none of those many volunteers would object if you took ownership of the solution.

I'm sure they wouldn't but I wouldn't like to take any of their self esteem away. Anyway,I don't think for one minute that it is the fault of the volunteers and I already have volunteering commitments of my own.

It might be an idea for a security firm or specialist to offer to help hcf with their security problems and stop things like this happening in future. The £500 to reinstate the swing could have been money towards security in retrospect.

Any one up to the task?

Yes i have have you ? When a minor royal did a tour the pavements were sorted out and lots of other things that didn't need doing and what happened to all the money from the lottery etc ? Plus the waste of money on the manky pond that no one goes near, there was money for a flying pig sculpture to be commissioned but no cctv, yes the farm has had it's last pound from me.

We unfortunately don't have money for security - it isn't something you can get funding for generally and is a common and frequently occuring difficulty for many places that operate on a shoestring. But thank you for your feedback.

I know yours and places like it are short of funds, but I would have thought safe-guarding the animals in your care from any suffering would be one of the first things you fund-raised for.

If you got say the proper fencing I'm sure you could have a help weekend or something where people would come and help put it up.

And there are always folk upgrading security cameras and I'm sure if you asked in the right places you could get a couple of the old ones.

If you don't tell people what you need ( apart from money ) they can't help.

I used to live on Thirlwell Rd, when the Farm just kicked off properly, & we had problems even then! CCT cameras all over the place should help, but who knows!? Sad to hear its still happening though...

I retract what I said Wallace, I don't follow what the funds have been spent on in the past, hopefully security will get the investments it needs sooner rather than later.
