avidcameron   10 #61 Posted October 28, 2013 I do usually shop at Morrisons, the Hillsborough one, mainly because its the nearest supermarket to me. I try to get Morrisons own-brand stuff such as serials; if you shop cleverly there you can get quite a lot for your money.  I like serials, especially Life on Marks, and What Remains, not forgetting cornflakes and weetabix.  ---------- Post added 28-10-2013 at 11:45 ----------  Does anyone know when the Aldi at Langsett Rd opens?  The one on London road opens at 830 am. JME52K Â Â 10 #62 Posted October 28, 2013 I use Millhouses and also the Dronfield Aldi and have never had an unpleasant cashier or shop floor worker. Admittedly there aren't as many staff around as Sainsbury's or Tesco but if you need help, I have always found them very good. Super Hans   10 #63 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) I like this thread, the more slow people being put off going to Aldi, the quicker my visits will be.  The fact is this, the quicker they put stuff through the tills, the quicker they get through the queue, the fewer till staff they have to employ, the lower the food costs overall.  If you want someone to help you pack your bags, well there are places to go, Morrisons and ASDA and the likes will happily do that for you, and it's one of the reasons their stuff is more expensive.  On the subject of till staff, why people would expect someone on minimum wage to sit there with a grin on his face when he gets idiot customers all day long complaining that he's scanning too fast...I don't know. I think we all know why Aldi do it, but I like the Asda way where the wife can bag it, and still be sociable with the till clerk. If you want to stand and socialise with the till guy then go to ASDA. If you want everything done as quickly and cheaply as possible go to Aldi.  Actually customers who hold up the queue wasting everybody's time talking inconsequential nonsense at the checkout operator really do my head in.  Got busy lives, things to do. Just cause the OAP doesn't have to be anywhere they make everybody else behind them suffer.
 Share this content via...

Plus was winter draws nearer I'll be going out probably less than normal.:(
 Share this content via...

avidcameron   10 #69 Posted October 28, 2013 Part of the joy of shopping at Hillsborough Coop was the slow relaxed manners of the staff, who eschewed efficiency in favour of extending the hand of friendship to the elderly.I never found the other part in 20 years shopping at stores. alchresearch   214 #70 Posted October 29, 2013 Have you noticed how the big supermarkets love to play each other off in their adverts, but never mention Aldi?  Yes, Asda may be the cheapest supermarket, but only for branded products, certainly not their own label stuff, which is usually made for all supermarkets by the same company and just rebranded. alchresearch   214 #72 Posted October 29, 2013 I don't like they way they sneakily raise the price a hefty amount then reduce it a week later with loads of fanfare.
 Share this content via...
