hazel   11 #122 Posted November 10, 2013 I too have come back to the forum on hearing the sad news. I first spoke to John when we were both new forummers, I remember pm ing him saying I hoped he enjoyed the forum as much as I. from then on we were firm friends, he gave me support when I was in need and gave me the honour of opening his beloved Arbourthorne Pond. I remember playing a game of Ma Jong with John and his friends and failing miserably. This all adds to the character that John was he was one of the super men that can not be replaced RIP John with love from Hazel
 Share this content via...
SupraSteve   10 #123 Posted November 11, 2013 Many thanks to everyone on here for sharing their memories and for the kind words and best wishes to John, myself and the rest of the family.  Also many thanks to everyone who made the service and/or the celebration of his life afterwards, whether you made it in person or were there in spirit - seeing so many people wanting to pay their respects was certainly humbling. It might sound a bit stupid but I wish my dad could have seen that, to see how much he meant to so many.  At the service I know I was filling in the gaps and - despite the double slot - we were really pushed for time, so apologies for everything and everyone I missed out.  Cheers all. denlin   12 #125 Posted November 11, 2013 Sorry I couldn't be there Steve but was honoured to have met your Dad last year and I know Patti was too at our Joyces meet. We'll probably raise a glass or two at our next meet
 Share this content via...
Tallgrass   10 #126 Posted November 12, 2013 You did your dad absolutely proud at the funeral Steve. Well done - I can't imagine how hard it must have been. I know I don't know you but I felt that John must have been looking down on us and knowing him was probably thinking we were all being too bloody miserable! I have a few photos of John doing tree planting that you might want copies of. I can copy you a CD and post it to you if you PM me.   Many thanks to everyone on here for sharing their memories and for the kind words and best wishes to John, myself and the rest of the family. Also many thanks to everyone who made the service and/or the celebration of his life afterwards, whether you made it in person or were there in spirit - seeing so many people wanting to pay their respects was certainly humbling. Lotti   10 #127 Posted November 19, 2013 So sad to see this. I haven't been on the forum for a long time, but knew Redrobbo a long time ago. He was a good man. RIP x
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   215 #128 Posted November 19, 2013 I was a little bit saddened to see it was no longer a sticky. I realise it can't be forever, but it will be sad to see it drop down the forum.
 Share this content via...
taxman   12 #129 Posted November 19, 2013 I was a little bit saddened to see it was no longer a sticky. I realise it can't be forever, but it will be sad to see it drop down the forum.  He wouldn't want us to dwell forever, he lived life to the full even when he knew he was seriously ill.  I think he'd want everybody to go out and do the same. Mr Bloom   10 #130 Posted November 20, 2013 He wouldn't want us to dwell forever, he lived life to the full even when he knew he was seriously ill. I think he'd want everybody to go out and do the same.  Absolutely. Living life a bit more to the full would be a very good way to honour him, and perhaps being a bit more community-spirited like he was. Solomon1   10 #131 Posted December 11, 2015 Hi all, I have just been told that Redrobbo, Cllr. John Robson has passed away after being ill for some time.  He was an excellent ward councillor and welcome voice on Sheffield Forum. He will be sadly missed.  RIP John  How did I not know this?  RED's gone!  Goodbye old friend
 Share this content via...
