mrswentworth   10 #1 Posted September 29, 2013 My son trying to get into the great music scene that Sheffield has (to watch and learn, he's not trying to be signed!!), but is only 13 (bless!). Heard on the grapevine that there's stuff for under 14's on at the Leadmill?? Anyone know anymore? He's a drummer All advice appreciated. Thanks!  Henry's lovely mum. Ousetunes   10 #2 Posted September 30, 2013 I used to be a drummer and found the best way to learn was to play along to music and to watch and copy drummers from video (in my day!). I was fortunate in that I was never short of having friends who I could rely upon to jam along with.  I took lessons for a while but found that I felt too restricted. I preferred to teach myself. Thirteen is a good age to start learning - I started around the same age on a Premier kit before buying myself a nice Yamaha kit in 1986 (Sabian and Zildjian cymbals).  I no longer play but like riding a bike, you don't forget what you learned. The hardest part for you, as a parent, will be putting up with the racket! Good luck to you all!!
 Share this content via...
