28-9-2013 = Attendances

Concord = 35

Graves = 87

Hillsborough = 64

Sheff Castle = 37

Sheff Hallam = 384

Total = 607

It looks like the colder weather effected numbers but it was an excellent day for pb's with 161 across the city. Including 100 at Sheff Hallam, 33% of eligible runners - I guess the new input of students are getting used to the course.

The Pirate

more than the colder weather, i think it was due to the Bupa 10K run on the following day...most of the parkrunners took part in the Bupa GYR on Sunday

I really doubt this.

What was it like at Sheff Hallam?

I've heard that the start line is not cleared before the lead runners have made it around the small loop! With almost 100 less this week, can you notice the difference? Last time I did it the numbers were about 250 and it was pretty crowded then.

I had 4 hillsborough parkrunners at Nottingham & saw/spoke to 15 at GYR while I was helping out as part of my sheffield running club duties.

Also saw quite a few familiar hallam parkrun faces.

.....so tomorrow is the 9th Birthday of parkrun.

What do you want it to be - for you - for parkrun - for everyone.

For me - re-entry into the top 500

For parkrun - a celebration that rolls and rolls

For everyone - wake up to it! this way to health, fitness and community.

Cool. Nice to see Castle numbers slowly growing. :)

Am in Mablethorpe for the (my first) Marathon on Sunday, woo! Trying not to get too excited, or pig out on junk food before the race!

Did you manage to get back in the top 500 this week Flamker7?

Bless you for asking Waldo.

461st - The Pirate storms back into the 500. pb by 32 seconds. I'm now running with people who were just names in front of me and I know they are thinking 'what's slowpoke Joe doing here!'

A strange thing about parkrun is that even when there are 400 in the field there are usually 15 or so people who are with you week after week and the chemistry of each personality starts to become clear. Loving it.

Oh yes . Waldo.

Re: 1st marathon - my experience, 2nd Sheffield marathon 1982? :-

Controlled for the first 13.1 miles. Wi me mates.

To 19.5 miles. Alone. Let it rip looking at 3.20.

Mile 19.6 I didn't hit the wall, it fell on me outside what is now Sainsbury's Archer Road (I remember it well) and I staggered, walking, from the wreckage.

26.2 - Survived walking to a lamppost and running to the next .

3 hours 57 minutes.

The moral of the story is 'The run don't start till 21 miles'.

Good luck - Let us know how you get on.

Congrats Flanker, 30 seconds is a fair chunk to shave off your PB! :-)

Hoping for around the same time as you, just under 4 hours. Have done a couple of 20 mile runs and a 23 mile run in training (at 9:04 pace, so just under the 4 hours) ... HOWEVER ... Who can tell how the extra 3 or so miles will affect me!!

Nervouse and excited!

Waldo :-)
