That attendance across the Yorkshire and the Humber region was lower than last week is probably no surprise given that the temperature was only marginally above freezing at 9am. At the same time on the previous two days there had been snow on the ground across much of the region.
58/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Other than Oakwell Hall, two other cancellations were due to the weather: Brighouse’s continued cancellation is a legacy of the storms in February, New Easwick was due to the recent frosty weather. Unfortunately Frickley Country couldn’t be staged due to a lack of volunteers.
Total attendance was 9700, a decrease of 1212 (11.1%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (523); the smallest was at Horton Park (32). Of the 58 events that also took place last week, 16 saw an increase in attendance and 42 were lower.
Roundhay staged its 500th event.
Bradford and Millhouses both had attendances of 236, Concord and Dewsbury had 119, Conyngham Hall and Selby had 95, Cliffe Castle and Humber Bridge had 92, and Northallerton and The Cinder Track had 68.
Since parkrun was launched, there have now been 17006 parkruns staged across Yorkshire and the Humber.
The rolling weekly regional average of 10225* over the last year represents a decrease of 21.0% when compared with the previous two years (12947).
*Although the average for the last year clearly starts from the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021, the average for the two years prior to that cover the period between 1 and 3 years prior to the current date.

Rotherham had an above average attendance! Was it the Fibonacci Effect?

Graves also had an increased attendance. I'm pretty sure it was the 10th Birthday effect.

Another Saturday, another parkrun day. It may have seemed pretty regular for runners across Yorkshire and the Humber, but if you like a niche stat – this is the report for that!
58/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Other than Oakwell Hall, there were three other cancellations. The continued cancellation at Brighouse as well as New Easwick and Northallerton.
Total attendance was 10437, an increase of 737 (7.6%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (575); the smallest was at Frickley Country (30). Of the 57 events that also took place last week, 34 saw an increase in attendance, 21 were lower and two (Hull (465) and Middleton Woods (55)) were the same.
Potternewton staged its 100th event.
There were a number of duplicate attendances:
Beverley Westwood, Swerby and Wakefield Thornes all had attendances of 192, Selby and Skipton had 134, Goole and North Yorkshire Water Park had 133, Ancholme Valley Way, Barnsley and Cliffe Castle had 107, and Cross Flatts and The Cinder Track had 97.
Here’s your list of niche stats (take note):
- the attendances at Humber Bridge (84), Sheffield Castle (86) and Penistone (89) all provided the 57th instances of parkruns of this size in the region
- Rotherham and Sandall Park both staged events with the same Fibonacci number (377)
- of the 17064 events staged across the region in the history of parkrun, precisely 12000 have had attendances of 253 or fewer
- and 1000 have seen an attendance of between 480 and 723 (inclusive)
The rolling weekly regional average of 10231* over the last year represents a decrease of 20.9% when compared with the previous two years (12935).
*Although the average for the last year clearly starts from the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021, the average for the two years prior to that cover the period between 1 and 3 years prior to the current date.

The weather was glorious across much of the country and the Easter weekend clearly benefitted attendances at some venues across Yorkshire and the Humber.
57/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Other than Oakwell Hall, there were cancellations Brighouse, Northallerton, Penistone and Roberts Park.
Total attendance was 11350, an increase of 913 (8.7%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (604); the smallest was at Horton Park (44). Of the 56 events that also took place last week, 38 saw an increase in attendance and 18 were lower.
Selby had an arbitrary milestone by staging its 150th event; Millhouses staged its 50th.
North Yorkshire Water Park had a new record attendance of 233. There are still nine events whose record attendance stems from their inaugural event. The longest surviving of these is Northallerton (181 on 1 August 2015). It is also by far the lowest record attendance of those nine venues.
There were a number of duplicate attendances:
Normanby Hall and Sandall Park had attendances of 192, Halifax and The Cinder Track had 137, Barnsley and Humber Bridge had 126, Cross Flatts and Selby had 114, Bowling Park and Potternewton had 67, and Middleton Woods and New Earswick had 64.
The rolling weekly regional average of 10259* over the last year represents a decrease of 20.6% when compared with the previous two years (12922).
*Although the average for the last year clearly starts from the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021, the average for the two years prior to that cover the period between 1 and 3 years prior to the current date.

Finally got round to doing the "new" Endcliffe course in Sheffield at the weekend.

Controversial opinion: The current course is less safe than the old course (which used to go out onto the public highway on Rustlings Road).
The narrow "trail" section at the back of the park (so narrow it has to have a signposted and marshalled "no overtaking" zone) does not cope well with 500+ runners spread over two laps, and the wide start on the grass immediately funneling into the narrower path, with a sharpish turn, seems a bit risky as well.
Glad that my (current) parkrunning posse have now ticked it off and there's no need to revisit for a while.

It was a case of ups and downs with attendances on St George’s Day across the Yorkshire and the Humber region. Whilst some venues (most notably Frickley Country) saw a large increase in attendance, others were much reduced.
60/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Other than Oakwell Hall, it was just Brighouse that was unable to go ahead..
Total attendance was 11229, a decrease of 121 (1.1%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (606); the smallest was at Bowling Park (33). Of the 57 events that also took place last week, 25 saw an increase in attendance and 32 were lower.
Frickley Country heavily promoted its 100th event and was rewarded with an attendance of 187. This was well up on its average post-COVID attendance of 58.7.
For only the second time since the return of parkrun last July, there was an attendance over 600 for the second week in a row.
The  attendances at Humber Bridge, Dalby Forest, Centre Vale, Sheffield Castle and Wetherby were 91, 92, 93, 94 and 95.
Over the history of parkrun in the region, out of 17181 events, there have been 2222 instances of an attendance of 73 or fewer. 6000 events have had attendances between 143-286 (inclusive). 17000 have had attendances of 659 or fewer.
Just a pair of pairs (or a brace of braces if you will) this week:
North Yorkshire Water Park and Sewerby had attendances of 170, and Goole and Millfield had 125.
The rolling weekly regional average of 10284* over the last year represents a decrease of 20.1% when compared with the previous two years (12867).
*Although the average for the last year clearly starts from the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021, the average for the two years prior to that cover the period between 1 and 3 years prior to the current date.

The main milestone in the Yorkshire and the Humber region was experienced by fewer than 6% of those that attend parkrun in the region. For everyone however, conditions were just about perfect for running.
59/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Other than Oakwell Hall, there was the ongoing cancellation at Brighouse and unfortunately Wetherby couldn’t go ahead either.
Total attendance was 11741, an increase of 512 (4.6%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Woodhouse Moor (610) – bar far their highest attendance since parkrun’s return; the smallest was at Frickley Country (44). Of the 59 events that also took place last week, 41 saw an increase in attendance, 17 were lower and one (Middleton Woods (65)) was the same
The key milestone alluded to above was at the region’s original venue. Woodhouse Moor became the first in the region to hold its 700th event.
For those that like a double, Centre Vale and Humber Bridge both had attendances of 126.
The rolling weekly regional average of 10319* over the last year represents a decrease of 19.99% when compared with the previous two years (12897).
*Although the average for the last year clearly starts from the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021, the average for the two years prior to that cover the period between 1 and 3 years prior to the current date.

Andrew Tup - facebook - yorkshire parkruns

The primary headline in the Yorkshire and the Humber region was the long overdue and welcome return of Oakwell Hall! Unfortunately, this didn’t mean that all available parkruns in the region took place today.
61/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Huddersfield was the only cancellation as Brighouse also returned after a three month break.
Total attendance was 11328, a decrease of 413 (3.5%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Endcliffe (614); the smallest was at Bowling Park (35). Of the 58 events that also took place last week, 22 saw an increase in attendance, 33 were lower and three (Chevin Forest (112), Concord (108) and Frickley Country (44)) were the same
This week’s arbitrary milestone was the 400th event at Peter Pan.
The attendance at Bowling Park provided the 35th ever attendance of precisely 35 at any parkrun across the region.
There were three doubles: Cliffe Castle and Middleton Woods both had attendances of 118, Barnsley and Chevin Forest had 112, and Dalby Forest and Northallerton had 92.
Of all events to have taken place across the region, there have been 8650 with an attendance of 169 or fewer and 8651 with an attendance of 170 or higher. (The median attendance is therefore likely to drop again next week.)
The rolling weekly regional average of 10343* over the last year represents a decrease of 19.6% when compared with the previous two years (12857).
*Although the average for the last year clearly starts from the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021, the average for the two years prior to that cover the period between 1 and 3 years prior to the current date.
