Flanker7 Â Â 20 #1045 Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) jemson - "Millhouses roadside a no-no. Why? And couldn`t it be kept within the park?" Â The straight answer is runner safety. Maybe it could be kept within Millhouses Park but not easily and its been looked at many times. Maybe a 'strava' runner could squeeze in a 5k route there and see if it catches on. The current strava runs - 'Car park 2 Car park' is 0.9K add 'Striders 300m Track in a Park' = 1.2. Out and back = 2.4, Two laps = 4.8? The pinch point at the boating lake is a major problem, very tight. Â I know that Hallam do roadside running on a much narrower pavement but I understand that when they started it was okay with parkrun HQ. jemson   10 #1046 Posted March 20, 2017 That makes sense. How about popping into Hutcliffe Woods? That would make it `interesting`? I did one last year at Dalby Forest that was very varied terrain-wise.
 Share this content via...

Flanker7   20 #1052 Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) Sheffield & Rotherham parkrun attendances for 8th & 9th April 2017.  83 - Concord 220 - Graves 78 - Graves Juniors 242 - Hillsborough, 55 - Castle 591 - Hallam  Total - 1,269  290 - Rother Valley 111 - Clifton Park , 2nd Highest Attendance Total - 401  Overall total = 1,670  Clifton Park & Rother Valley had 400+, for the first time, probably. The town course seem to have a boost of enthusiasm, 100+ again, not that many 'First timers' but loads on 2 & 3 runs.  Sheffield numbers held up well in the face of the Sheffield Half on Sunday - volunteer rosta's were packed out early doors. The Sunday run was fantastic spectating but a bit hot for the runners, who saw the Pirate flag?.  This is a Sheffield/Nottingham 'double' that appeals to me - https://www.nowca.org/Home/Page/28  ---------- Post added 16-04-2017 at 17:34 ----------  Sheffield & Rotherham parkrun attendances for 15th & 16th April 2017.  99 - Concord 252 - Graves, 5th Highest Attendance 82 - Graves Juniors 301 - Hillsborough, 3rd Highest Attendance 64 - Castle, 10th Highest Attendance tied with 2 other dates. 657 - Hallam  Total - 1,455  296 - Rother Valley, 2nd Highest Attendance 83 - Clifton Park  Total - 379  Overall total = 1,834  UK parkrun record smashed about 10,000 - https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=elliott%20line Edited April 10, 2017 by Flanker7
 Share this content via...

My closest one is Hillsborough, has anyone on here been to that one, what's the turn out like? Many thanks in advance  Turnout's about 200 each week, a real friendly bunch (as always with parkrun) and a nice course - 3 x 1 mile loops. First section is a shallow descent from the kids park to the bottom and them coming back up to near the top of the park, turning right to the library and back to the kids park.  No real hills to worry about, and not much traffic.
