Flanker7 20 #1262 Posted March 9, 2020 I just go and say the above when all of a sudden:- "The end is nigh indeed, as Louise Dale-Hughes, co-event director, alongside Finlay - also co-event director, made the official announcement that Sheffield Hallam parkrun will cease to be on 21st March. Flanker7 20 #1263 Posted March 15, 2020 (edited) Sheffield & Rotherham parkrun attendances for 14th & 15th March 2020. 110 - Concord 208 - Graves 70 - Graves-Juniors 416 - Hillsborough 260 - Millhouses 79 - Castle 504 - Hallam Total = 1,647 367 - Rother Valley 103 - Clifton Park Total = 470 Overall Total = 2,117 Were the lower number due to COVID-19 - probably. In the report below there was at least 1 cancellation due to the pandemic , I feel certain there will be more next week. At the moment there is no instruction coming from parkrun HQ so I guess some parkruns will continue IF current advice stays the same. I don't think there's much chance of that! As some volunteers are in close proximity to every single runner taking part its understandable that some will not be available for some time. Waldo 96 #1264 Posted March 18, 2020 parkrun cancelled due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Dear parkrunner, We’re writing to let you know that, in line with public health advice, we have taken the decision to close all parkrun events across the UK with immediate effect. Initially, this closure will be in place until the end of March, however this is largely to bring all parkrun countries into the same time frame and we very much expect closures to continue through April at least. Going forward we will update parkrunners regularly and aim to communicate important information as soon as is appropriate. We know that this message may be a difficult one for you to receive, and many people will be wondering what to do without their regular weekly catch-up. Please rest assured that we are working hard to develop our strategy so that we are able to support the health and happiness of parkrunners around the world during this difficult time. Remaining active is incredibly important, and we are working on ways to encourage and support that, however please do not arrange group gatherings at your parkrun venues whilst parkrun events are suspended. Thanks for your continued support, and please know that the parkrun family is there for you.
 Share this content via...

Flanker7 20 #1271 Posted July 9, 2020 Have you spotted it yet? Anything new or different? Well done for those of you that have! Just incase you haven’t, it is a very special day for us here. We are now officially Endcliffe parkrun. And the change comes just before our 10th birthday. Unfortunately, yes that does mean that we are missing our anniversary run. However, you can still get your (not)parkrun in for this special anniversary, and if you feel a little more adventurous, why don’t you try the run in reverse? Now, 10 years old, who’d have thought that the original Sheffield Hallam parkrun, with 36 parkrunners and only 4 volunteers would turn into over 600 regular parkrunners and at least 20 volunteers each week. We’ve all come to love parkrun, making it a staple at 9am on a Saturday morning, now we definitely didn’t think we would miss something so much on a Saturday morning before. We’ve made some fantastic friends at parkrun, whether they are fellow runners or the amazing volunteers. I think we can probably all agree that Sheffield Hallam parkrun brought something amazing into our lives. Without one main person, Sheffield Hallam parkrun may never have been, we have to say one massive thank you to Ryan Amos, who brought us Sheffield Hallam parkrun. Ryan spent hours behind the scenes making sure parkrun was possible for us all and though stepping down a while ago still influences parkrun to this day. Now although sad to Sheffield Hallam parkrun go. We are extremely excited to carry on the legacy with Endcliffe parkrun. With LDH and Finlay leading the way, when we eventually get back to parkrun, Endcliffe parkrun will come back better than before. And we can’t wait to see all your lovely faces again. Updates will be posted when we find anything out. Now the main thing, is that we hope you all keep safe so we can see you all at the all new and exciting Endcliffe parkrun.
