The parkrun thread

jemson - "Millhouses roadside a no-no. Why? And couldn`t it be kept within the park?"

The straight answer is runner safety.

Maybe it could be kept within Millhouses Park but not easily and its been looked at many times. Maybe a 'strava' runner could squeeze in a 5k route there and see if it catches on. The current strava runs - 'Car park 2 Car park' is 0.9K add 'Striders 300m Track in a Park' = 1.2. Out and back = 2.4, Two laps = 4.8? The pinch point at the boating lake is a major problem, very tight.

I know that Hallam do roadside running on a much narrower pavement but I understand that when they started it was okay with parkrun HQ.

That makes sense. How about popping into Hutcliffe Woods? That would make it `interesting`? :o I did one last year at Dalby Forest that was very varied terrain-wise.

Clifton Park & Rother Valley had 400+, for the first time, probably. The town course seem to have a boost of enthusiasm, 100+ again, not that many 'First timers' but loads on 2 & 3 runs.

Sheffield numbers held up well in the face of the Sheffield Half on Sunday - volunteer rosta's were packed out early doors. The Sunday run was fantastic spectating but a bit hot for the runners, who saw the Pirate flag?.

This is a Sheffield/Nottingham 'double' that appeals to me - https://www.nowca.org/Home/Page/28

Turnout's about 200 each week, a real friendly bunch (as always with parkrun) and a nice course - 3 x 1 mile loops. First section is a shallow descent from the kids park to the bottom and them coming back up to near the top of the park, turning right to the library and back to the kids park.

No real hills to worry about, and not much traffic.

There is a map of each parkrun course, on the website for that parkrun.

This Hillsborough one is here: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/hillsborough/course/
