Mouserat   10 #988 Posted August 11, 2016 I've never done the Hillsborough Park run so can't really answer your question. But I've done the Hallam one quite a few times.  The route's pretty good - two circuits around the park, a gentle climb following by a gentle run down each time. But Hallam is really, really busy. It's often a very slow / walking start. There tend to be quite a lot of dogs and pushchairs. It's often difficult to get past people, particularly running down Rustlings Road.  If you want a gentle, relaxed, friendly Park Run, Hallam's fine. If you want to run at your own pace, push yourself to improve each week and try to run a pacy 5k, Hallam is just too busy.
 Share this content via...
wibbles   10 #989 Posted August 12, 2016 If anyone is planning to join us at RVp this week, or any other week, and you come by car, show your barcode at the gate on the way into parkrun, and you only pay a pound instead of five. Unfortunately, this discount doesn't work at other times. The park is really supportive, so we encourage anyone who has time, to join us for a coffee afterwards.  Happy running.  RVp  There's also free parking on Direct Cars side, allow 15 minutes to wander/jog round. The main car park gets busy now.
 Share this content via...

achorste   10 #993 Posted August 30, 2016 Just asked on FB . What is the purpose of takeovers and flashmobs by our local running clubs?  My running club do this occasionally, some are to celebrate things, like recently it was someone 100th & 2 peoples 50th parkrun on the same day so a load of the club came over to run with them.  Sometimes it's a friendly time-trial (not a race of course) pitting runners against each other on the same course in the same conditions.  Sometimes it's to help a parkrun with low numbers (to introduce more people to it)  Sometimes it's to promote the running club to as many people as possible.  And sometime's its just for the hell of it, and have a good run with your clubmates. Karen Weir has several local runs on her 'palmares', this week it was Graves turn.  Roger Walters ran a very controlled 5k to secure 25th position to complete a unbroken sequence of 25 finishing places (1st to 25th). My record is 12 (38th to 49th).
