Happ Hazzard   10 #40 Posted August 29, 2013 If a white working class community here in Britain acted the same towards women as the Saudis do even today after this new law is passed, Halibut and others like him would be frothing at the mouth with apoplexy. Eccentric   10 #41 Posted August 29, 2013 Why bother with women? They are just an annoyance in Saudi Arabia, are they not? Well, then, get rid of them. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia should simply deport its women. It does not seem to know what it wants. Know thyself.
 Share this content via...

erebus   10 #43 Posted August 29, 2013 Well it depends, the princes can do what they like, when and how, but it helps keep the rest in order. THis nonsense is necessary as the wonderful Saudis are engaged in a war with Iran, and they are trying to get Syria to become democratic, so the people can have a say.  THis is just another smoke screen, a joke on the rest of us, as if beating woman, stoning them to death, is not a popular passtime, for a regime that gave the world terrorism, through a new and improved interpretation of Islam. Jam on it   10 #44 Posted August 30, 2013 Lets hope so in due course. In the meantime, surely even the most curmudgeonly amongst us can applaud this important step on the road towards equality.  I am definitely going to use that word more often in general conversation. Really?  Sorry, it was too early, I appear to have missed the point.  ---------- Post added 30-08-2013 at 07:52 ----------  Lets hope so in due course. In the meantime, surely even the most curmudgeonly amongst us can applaud this important step on the road towards equality.  It doesn't seem like a very important step, considering all the laws against women there. It seems more like they're doing the bare minimum to make it look like they're "doing something" for women's rights. If they were serious it's be more than a 12 month maximum sentence or fine. If they were serious they'd get rid of all the other ridiculous laws they have against women. A gesture to keep the western populations appeased whilst they debate Syria. Does anyone seriously imagine that any court case will result in a conviction? Even this minute step is pure window dressing and flim-flam.
 Share this content via...
JanetJ123 Â Â 10 #47 Posted August 30, 2013 My niece, a nurse working over there a few years ago, was arrested and spent the night in the cells for being alone in a car with a man who was not her husband... that's all there was to it, she claims anyway...
