Omar al-Saeed is the fourth member of the Saudi Civil and Political Rights Association (ACPRA) to be jailed this year after the group issued statements attacking the ruling family over its human rights record and calling for democracy.

 

Saeed did not have legal representation at the secret hearing when he was sentenced on Sunday, ACPRA said in a statement on its website.

 

"It's just another troubling instance of Saudi authorities' absolute refusal to countenance any activism or criticism of Saudi policies or human rights abuses," said Adam Coogle, Middle East researcher at Human Rights Watch.

They are taken to the police station to await collection by their male guardian, who is required to explain what she was doing out without an escort and how she was allowed to drive.

Article 1 of The Basic Law of Saudi Arabaia tells us

"God's Book and the Sunnah of His Prophet" are the country's constitution and Sharia Law is the law of Allah, which is eternally binding on Muslims, said to be for mankind's benefit is unreformable,

And the following of any religion other than Islam forbidden.

Muslims have a book which they consider to be the perfect and immutable word of god. This book contains instructions on when it is permissible to beat you wife (amongst other things):

Isn't it good to see that religious freedom in Saudi has led to such diversity. So much so that any foreign national who takes Saudi nationality is required to convert to Islam. Hindu workers from India who live there are forbidden to worship in the country.
