Krush   10 #13 Posted August 21, 2013 If you are going for 3 pm you might be cutting things a bit fine for your 7 pm guests. Alot will depend on readings and length of speeches but civil ceremonies will last 20 mins max. You then need to allow a good hour for photographs (you may need longer because of gathering the kids together and also if you have nice backdrops you will want plenty of profile shots).  You then need to get your guests into the room so you will be looking at 5 pm sit down. 3 courses allow 2 hours so you are at 7 pm before you have even had speeches. I have filmed three weddings this year where speeches have lasted nearly a hour! (Once Fathers Bride has introduced every table in the room and then the best man gets going there's no stopping 'em!).  Agree with Moosey for the bouncy castle, particularly whilst you are having your profile photos taken.  Can't agree with Rjh147 for the meal times. I spent 20 years working weddings in hotels; believe me 2 hours for 3 courses (unless there are less than 20 of you!).   I am hoping the speeches will be over relatively quickly, neither myself or my partner enjoy the limelight. I think realistically 4 hours for ceremony, photographs and food should do us, but i am open to all suggestions at this point.  I want it to be our day, so once we are hapy with the venue, we will probably look at the finer points, my OH likes the idea of totally bypassing the sit down meal, but i would like it, and neither of us likes speeches, but i know my dad will want to say something  Please keep the advice coming, i have a massive file almost half full already of the suggestions! Kandg   10 #16 Posted September 24, 2013 We got married at kelham island in feb 2013. Our ceremony was at the town hall. My husband met our 40 guests at Piccolinos for drinks first and I got a black cab into town! Our service was at 3.30 then we went to peace gardens and winter gardens for photos then everyone headed to the museum. From 5-6 we just had drinks and they left the museum open for people to look around. We used hazels catering who were very good. At 6 we had the meal - sausages n mash, a speech that lasted about 3 minutes and then coffee/tea and we cut the cake as dessert. On the table we had a daft quiz about ' us' and we bought everyone an irish lottery ticket and did the draw. About 8 the band came and did 2 45 minute slots. Unfortunately we booked a casino but they didn't show! Most people left about 1ish then we went to Platillos for cocktails! Our wedding was exactly as we wanted it. I can recommend the museum and hazels catering. Sorry, can't comment on children as we only had our nephews n nieces but the museum did open the soft play area for them for an hour or so before dinner. Good luck, I'm sure it'll be great.  ---------- Post added 24-09-2013 at 21:41 ----------  I meant to add that our evening guests arrived from 8pm
 Share this content via...
