purple.sarah   10 #1 Posted August 17, 2013 My husband and I just rescued a baby blackbird from a cat. He doesn't appear to be injured but is probably in shock. We're keeping him warm. We need to know what to feed him and how to look after him. Thank you.
 Share this content via...

purple.sarah   10 #3 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Thanks, we can get some in the morning, we're trying moistened cat food at the moment.  ---------- Post added 17-08-2013 at 23:11 ----------  Does anyone know anyone who can take him in? Is Voluntary Rescue Centre For Birds & Wildlife on Woodseats still running? I will ring them in the morning. I was thinking of taking him to the vets but will they just kill him? Rainbows28   10 #7 Posted August 18, 2013 Hi my friend found a baby swallow recently and fed it on mealworms soaked in water. They do need specialist care, especially baby birds and to enable them to survive back in the wild they really need the expert care of wildlife rehabilitators. I would recommend that you ring one for advice ASAP. I attach a link to a list of these but there are perhaps others listed in the Internet. Hope this helps the poor little bird x  Sorry wouldn't let me attach as not written 5 posts or something, will try again.  ---------- Post added 18-08-2013 at 00:08 ----------  Sorry still not letting me attach so having to write 5 posts first!  ---------- Post added 18-08-2013 at 00:08 ----------  And again sorry about this!  ---------- Post added 18-08-2013 at 00:09 ----------  Fourth post  ---------- Post added 18-08-2013 at 00:11 ----------  And here is the link In the next post!  ---------- Post added 18-08-2013 at 00:15 ----------  Hi here is the link but just read the post about the man at OldCoates, perhaps he would be nearer for you but no harm in getting as much advice as you can.  ---------- Post added 18-08-2013 at 00:21 ----------  Sorry about this can't attach it for some reason  ---------- Post added 18-08-2013 at 00:27 ----------  If you look on bwrc.org.uk then look under 'menu' 'find a rehabilitator' it should help you as won't let me attach the link.
