midgecat   10 #25 Posted August 17, 2013 I really hope my little ones need a doctor as rarely as possible!  I second that! Just out of curiosity, can I ask which country you're coming from? Wondereing where they have cat only vets.
 Share this content via...
Fotini   10 #26 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) City taxis carry pets in pet carriers providing you ask them/ tell them about the cat  Thanks! I would certainly do that!  ---------- Post added 17-08-2013 at 23:53 ----------  I second that! Just out of curiosity, can I ask which country you're coming from? Wondereing where they have cat only vets.  Oh, I am Greek. I had a very good vet with much experience on cats. He used to answer my questions about medical matters without being arrogant and selfish. I could distinguish a good and informed vet with that little knowledge I have acquired so far.  There are vets only for cats everywhere, in every country I mean. They use to attend congresses as they have formed some kind of "union". There is also this site http://www.icatcare.org/ from which they get informed on the latest news. There are vets only for cats in the UK, too. That's why I asked if there is one in Sheffield..  ---------- Post added 17-08-2013 at 23:56 ----------  Have a look at this:  http://www.icatcare.org/cat-campaigns/cat-friendly-clinic  ---------- Post added 17-08-2013 at 23:58 ----------  I searched for cat friendly clinics in South Yorkshire and here's what I got:  -Hall Court Veterinary Group 1 St Leonards Close DINNINGTON Sheffield S25 2RL  t. 01909 562319 e. That's why I asked if there is one in Sheffield..  The icatcare, which used to be FAB cats is a great site - I've got loads of useful info from there. If you find a cat only vet I'd be really interested. The closest I've got is one in Doncaster that had a separate waiting room for cats. It wasn't great though - had to take the cats through the dog area to get to it, and back again through the dog area to get to the consulting rooms. And back again through dog area to reception to pay, and back again to get out. In vets4pets there's no separate waiting area but people tend to be aware and keep dogs to one end and cats / rabbits to the other. There's supposed to be an ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic Scheme. And these vets are listed in this Scheme.
 Share this content via...
midgecat   10 #31 Posted August 18, 2013 I'm not entirely sure what the cat friendly scheme requires. I seem to remember chatting to one of the vets at vets4pets and he said the reason they could get the cat friendly status was that they weren't able to provide a separate waiting area for cats. Peak don't have a separate waiting area either, and when I last went to Springfield they didn't either (though its some years since I've been up there).
