Sheffield bus drivers

Recommended Posts

they seem to be fine with everyone else, last time i used them one looked at me grimaced then gave me my change {which was a fair amount] in coppers, then threw it at me, missing the tray and hit the floor so i had to rummage around to collect it.

i dont expect cheery hollywood grins or open palm handshake, i understand it cant be the most exciting job and they must face some hard people sometimes but some drivers appear to openly despise students

Mm Did you give him a £10 note for a £1 fare? Then I can understand him not being happy sure he would have been the same student or not student .

Having been a driver myself i know first hand. It's the Passengers attitudes that make Drivers the way they are !

ok then you say that but asking a driver which way he goes like i did yesterday i got the answer im too busy top talk . Your wrong so because a few passengers give drivers grief its ok them to be nasty pieces of work back to the other passengers??????????????

Maybe it's because some students are taking the **** by trying to present an out of date pass to the driver then kicking up a stink when being charged full fare.

I'm always polite and smile at everyone but lately it seems there are quite a lot of arrogant people who get on and off without even acknowledging us.

So if their pass has expired you try to make them pay full fair rather than pointing out to them their pass has expired and asking if they'd like to renew it? Says it all really

A day on the Sheffield Forum wouldn't be complete without a thread complaining about either buses or the people who drive them.

Yes we do make them pay full fare. You want half fare, you need a valid pass. And we do advise them to renew their pass which needs to be done at a transport interchange. Getting slated now because we are trying to do our jobs properly?

This says it all really! People expecting more than a driver can give.

When you have been a bus driver, then comment! Because half the things I read, I can see why the driver has done it. Certain rules and regulations that need to be followed yet can make the driver seem like a real pratt!

You go to a shop, get served and the only things the cashier says is the price. Doesn't smile...do you complain on here about it? No. Because you know its someone who is working, probably doesn't want to be working there and then but is making a living. Same with bus drivers and anybody else but then a thread appears on here about the bus drivers as they're easy targets.

Just get on with it! You probably don't want to be on that bus as much as they don't!

Thank you. People don't realise, we don't do it to be awkward or jobsworths. If we let someone one for half fare without a valid pass and an inspector gets on, we get questioned and hauled into the office and the passenger could quite easily have their journey cut short. I have a family to feed, so I do my job properly.

I do half agree with bus drivers about not wanting to be there, but then again, if they don't want to be there, hand in your notice and do a job you enjoy. Part of the job is customer service, if you just want to be a driver, get a delivery job.

I have noticed quite a difference between First and Stagecoach though, First drivers are about 95% grumpy sods who don't acknowledge you, look at you like your stupid and throw the bus around like they're driving the latest Ferrari around the Nurburgring. Where as Stagecoach tend to be quite polite, talk to you like a person if you're not sure where you're going or don't know the fare and seem to have actually passed a test for their license. They do still have the odd characteristics of First drivers though and vice versa.

That I do completely agree with, if people are moaning about drivers not breaking rules to please them, then f**k em, if they can't get their lives in order then it's their problem, not the drivers.

So you don't issue student passes on busses then? Makes you wonder why they offer student weekly passes. You;'ve demonsrtrated the typical bus drive attitude, thanks for that.

No, we only issue student week tickets upon presentation of a valid student pass. And you can't judge someone's attitude through a computer screen. So don't be so quick to judge.
