Lost network key for sitecom router

Recommended Posts

Hi

Can anyone help please?

I've had my laptop fixed and when I've brought it home I can't get on the internet through wireless as I don't have the network key.

I have spent the last two hours on my mobile trying to find out... no luck.

Is there a way of finding it? Is there a default network key?

It is windows XP.

Thanks ... in hope!

Sam

Unless you have specifically set the key yourself, it will likely be printed on the base of the router..

Otherwise, plug it in with a cable, then you can go into the router configuration (instructions on the bottom of router) and check/change the password...

Hi Ghozer Thanks for quick response!

Is that the MAC ID? Tried that ... also plugged in the internet cable straight to lap top - no luck.

Also thought of resetting router but even though it says reset on it - there's no button.

Life used to be much simpler!

Usually there is a little hole in the side into which you poke an opened paper clip to reset to factory settings

Hi davyboy.

Would this alter the fact that I can't remember the network key?

Or could I reset from there?

Thanks a lot

Sam

Your network key? The one you set? Can't you change it on your router by accessing it's settings and then on the laptop? Do you know the IP address of the router?
