daniel3982 Â Â 10 #1 Posted August 1, 2013 I'm soon to start a new job in Barnsley (near the town centre) that will involve working there a couple of Sundays a month before the trains or buses start running. Â Does anyone know how much a minicab will roughly cost to get me from home (in Sharrow) to work before 8am on a Sunday?
 Share this content via...

Super Hans   10 #3 Posted August 1, 2013 About £25.  Can't you tell your employers that you can't really do it?
 Share this content via...
Squiggs   11 #4 Posted August 1, 2013 Might be best appealing for a car share lift, perhaps someone is headed the same way at the same sort of time?
 Share this content via...
Daid   10 #5 Posted August 1, 2013 I take it there's no chance of claiming expenses.
 Share this content via...
PAKS4   10 #6 Posted August 1, 2013 Sharrow to Barnsley town centre would cost just under £25.
 Share this content via...
Malkin   10 #7 Posted August 1, 2013 You can get a bus at 6.42 from sheffield centre to chapeltown and then get a taxi from there?  http://tsy.yorkshiretravel.net/journeyplanner/timetableplanner/displayIjpTimetableDetails.do?rid=1375355018289&hss=9xbxY123544588  would work out cheaper
 Share this content via...
Clown Shoes   10 #8 Posted August 1, 2013 A train leaves Sheffield station at 7.20am and gets into Barnsley for 7.41am on Sundays  Or there's an earlier one at 7.06am
 Share this content via...
kaylib1998 Â Â 10 #9 Posted August 1, 2013 If the job doesn't pay much i don't think it's worth while doing if you can't get there on time without paying a considerable amount in taxi fare. I don't believe there is a train what can get you there for 8am on Sunday as Clown Shoes states if they can give you a link to timetable for this it could help. Getting to Chapeltown like Malkin has said then a taxi from there would work out cheaper but would it be worth it? depending where you live in Sharrow you could get the 79a as mentioned or 75 along Abbeydale road to Chapeltown. daniel3982   10 #11 Posted August 2, 2013 About £25. Can't you tell your employers that you can't really do it?  No, unfortunately it's part of the job to work two Sunday's a month.  The salary is a few hundred quid a month more than I was earning in Sheffield (& in the field I want to work in) so figured an extra £50 a month on top of the travel costs is probably a price worth paying.  ---------- Post added 02-08-2013 at 11:09 ----------  You can get a bus at 6.42 from sheffield centre to chapeltown and then get a taxi from there? http://tsy.yorkshiretravel.net/journeyplanner/timetableplanner/displayIjpTimetableDetails.do?rid=1375355018289&hss=9xbxY123544588  would work out cheaper  That might be doable.  How much do we reckon a minicab from Chapeltown to Barnsley would be?
