Photos of closed down shops

Can anyone help as to where I can find pictures of Gowers & Burgons-Ranmoor;the beer off on the corner of Blakeney Rd & Toyland on Crookes

from the '70's ? There is nothing on PictureSheffield.

I would love to see photos of Gowers and Burgons at Ranmoor, too.

 

I was very young when my mum used to take me there but I do remember the large push-button tills and I am sure there were two aisles at the check-out. It became Toy Fayre in, when, 1976? Then it was halved into Messenger newsagent with the other half becoming a video rental shop! The video shop became a restaurant (Mirage who did incredible steaks) and then finally it reverted into a double unit and became Ranmoor Tandoori.

 

IIRC, of course!

 

PS. There is a picture of the Lodge Moor branch on picturesheffield.

Try Sheffield archives or City library it's amazing what you can find on their pictures of old Sheffield
