Porn to be blocked!!

Recommended Posts

I get what he's saying about files always being available somewhere, if you look hard enough. What i don't get is how he'd mask his internet behaviour from anyone that had access to that info, IE his ISP, just by using TPB via a new url hosted on a different server.

So you'd still receive a warning before being taken out by the men in black. :hihi:

Maybe i'm just reading it all wrong, between bouts of my daughter spewing on me. :hihi:

I think the snowden/NSA/GCHQ stuff just highlights the fact of what could be done given the will. Porn just isn't high enough on the agenda to warrant anything more than a bit of press rhetoric and a bit of governmental interference with isps. I agree that their efforts won't ever amount to much in the way of restriction for the majority.

But precedents are being made, silk road and mega upload to name but two.

if the wrong government gets in with the wrong corporate lobbyists whispering in sympathetic ears the facilities could be put in place to achieve 'amazing' things...

It's not really about porn, the government just wants to censor the internet. That's proved by them changing the targets to match the audience, it's porn, terrorists or copyright infringement so far. 'The Great Firewall of China' that blocks western news sites & anything bad said about China is all about porn too if you ask the Chinese government.

We can build a solution to stop government censorship & snooping, given the will, a lot of the technology already exists, it's worth remembering there are worse governments than ours too.

If they wanted to ban porn, they just need a dedicated team with people who have powers to block all websites from all UK ISPs.

Give it a few months and all those sites and images would be blocked.

They did it with the torrent sites.

Doing this would still not totally restrict porn. You could still access it.

Slippery slope though. Porn sites aren't illegal & are clearly just being used as an excuse for extending censorship, so what's next?

First they came for the torrents, and I did not speak out - because I don't use torrents.

Then they came for the porn, and I did not speak out - because I don't use porn.

Then they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak out - because I'm not a Muslim.

Then they came for my online novelty shop -- and there was no-one left to speak for me.

read up on sexual exhaustion. guys who masturbate chronically cant get it up with a real woman, only when watching porn.

it also lowers testosterone and this is what causes the sexual dysfunction. i no longer masturbate and most definitely do not watch porn.

So from the 1st of this month, a whole bunch of acts have been banned from production and sale in UK porn (full list here).

However, I can't find any report or reasons given for the bans, one which I find particularly odd is the banning of female ejaculation (images/videos of).

What possible reason is there for banning that?

The "reason" was that the regulations for online videos did not match the ones for DVDs (which were created in the 1950's). They have been brought into line.

Any appearance that it targets female enjoyment can be blamed on the people from the 50's (and I'd personally blame it on the ones who have made this change as well).

It's been in the national news for weeks.

It's a family forum of course, but it is possible to discuss this topic in an adult manner.

Online pornography to be blocked by default, PM to announce.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23401076

Boys being boys they will now access porn through proxies and the deep web. You might not know how to access these, but I absolutely guarantee you that your kids do.

There, where all the child porn now lives, they will encounter stuff that is truly nasty and damaging and untracable.

"The next step is working with experts.."

What is so hard about clicking on "Tools" - "Internet Options - "Content" then using the slider / specific content blocks?

Surely the FIRST step should have been working with experts - all of whom would have told him it's unworkable.

I wonder what they will class as "porn". Back to 1920 levels I guess.

It takes me nearly 10 seconds to update a bookmark when they block a file sharing site I use.

How many kids will ask their parents to remove the filter!! No they will just learn to use the deep web which is untraceable and then no one can find what they are up to. If you are dumb enough to hand over technology to a child that you yourself don't understand, you're not up to the job.

This government truly is stupid with no clue how the internet works.

Welcome to Big Brother.

Funnily enough, I am currently working at a local ISP to enable them to comply with these (optional) requests from Ofcom.

At the moment it's no big deal. Existing customers will NOT have parental controls turned on. New customers will get a clear choice at sign-up. Indeed if they select "yes", then there will be a second choice asking if they really meant it, because the business don't expect it to be a popular service and don't want to increase calls to the call centre asking how to turn it off.

I think that banning what consenting adults want to do with their own bodies is a rather objectionable idea.

The list of new things that are to be banned are weird at best, and sexist at worse.

Of course there needs to be strong regulation in porn to ensure that no actual minors are involved, no actual non-consensual acts are performed, that everybody involved is healthy. Given that, there seems to be little need to ban what consenting adults want to do unless the motivation is an unhealthy dislike about what consenting adults want to do.

It seems that the government's desire to exert ever greater control over the population is just as instinctive as the population's desire to have sex.
