Hot Sauce   10 #49 Posted August 30, 2013 I've used Halfords Autocentre CP for an MOT. Couldn't fault them, £35 no problems.  Also they beat the tyres price when I phoned round and found another nearby garage could do cheaper. Cyclone   10 #50 Posted August 30, 2013 I went to Halfords for a full air con service as it wasn’t blowing cold at all. I picked it up and it worked for about a week then stopped working again. They said bring it back and we’ll take a look. They said they checked it for leaks and in the bits of the system they could get to, there was no evidence of a leak. Then they re-gassed it again (at no charge) but said if it stopped working again after a few days it was likely there was a leak in a bit they couldn’t get to and I would have to take it to a specialist / main dealer. Sure enough it stopped working again. Should I be satisfied that they did their best, or would you expect what is described as a full service to sort out the problem? (and if it doesn’t should they offer a full refund?)  A service doesn't guarantee to fix any problems, that would be a repair for a reported problem. And a regass doesn't guarantee that it won't leak away if there is a leak.  They did what you asked for, then did some more for free, I don't think you've got much grounds for complaint. Norseman   10 #56 Posted September 7, 2014 I generally don't go the Kwik fit, Halfords branches from experience.  I like Challenger on Rutland Road, great guys, knowledgeable and the best bit they supply Kwik fit etc....yet by going to them they're massively cheaper than the others.  Example, full exhaust and cat on my former large Vauxhall, Kwik fit price £469...Challenger £169 with same warranty and EXACTLY the same part, yet its free fitting at Kwik fit?!?!?! not sure where the extra £300 comes into the equation....I did ask Kwik fit however they declined to comment other than stating delivery charges .... hmm Kwik fit at Hillsborough to Rutland Road is about 1.5 miles, divided by £300 wow that's one expensive journey!  The exception to this was when I had a puncture and went to the Halfords branch on Bradfield Road at Hillsborough...brilliant service, really good guys, they even popped the tyre back on the car, 4,000 miles later its still going strong! They treated me like a valued customer rather than a walking wallet!
 Share this content via...
