Margarita Ma   10 #1240 Posted March 23, 2017 Ecotricity have pledged to ask for planning permission for a green gas facility close to every Fracking Site. Every city in Britain could have it's own green gas production by simply utilising the sewage produced and perhaps the domestic refuse as all biodegradable waste produces methane. There has to be a will to do this first of course and there are other ways of disposing of waste that produce usable heat, like the heat and power facility in Sheffield which was at the forefront of renewable technology in the non-to-distant-past. Sheffield also had lamps which burned off the sewer gas to prevent the regular explosions that occurred when the Victorians first put in the sewage systems. The bad spelling in the Facebook site can be corrected. The fracturing of the land to obtain the gas and the pollution that will at some point be inevitable, will not be correctable. Margarita Ma   10 #1245 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) The low income elderly kept warm next winter leading to fewer deaths. Energy prices down across the country, increasing living standards. CO2 emissions down and a big drop in pollution. Reduction in deforestation for "biofuels". Better funding for public services through higher tax revenue. A boost to economic growth improving living standards again.  ¿ We must surely stop all these horrific things. ¿  There won't be any point in keeping the elderly warm if they are being poisoned along with the rest of us by all the toxins entering the water table. We can boost economic growth by using the waste we produce to generate heat to run the country instead of it being released into the atmosphere as so much hot air and a bad smell. Obelix   11 #1246 Posted March 23, 2017 The energy released from burning waste is to all intents and purposes b****- all. Waste incineration merely gets the volumes down to manageable sizes.  If you are going to discuss this with UB I'd suggest sciencing up and learning about it - and I don't mean the whackjob list of sites there I mean proper science. You are aware that Gaslands and the associated outrage is entirely faked yes?
 Share this content via...

I nearly wet myself.  These schemes you refer to are expensive. Gas is cheap. The money ultimately comes from energy consumers. This is all perfectly obvious. The risk of water pollution is negligible with even basic regulation.  Nothing is without risk. All the schemes you allude to have risks too. Fracking makes energy cheaper and cleaner. Oppose it at the cost of making poor people do without. There's no way out of this equation.
 Share this content via...
