borninsheffield   10 #1 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm going to a wedding and obviously I have suits but is it ok to wear a 3-piece (waistcoat) to a wedding as a guest when your not party of the 'head' party?  A friend just mentioned about it maybe not right for upstaging. Didn't think of it and obviously wouldn't be trying to do that. Its just a plain dark grey suit with waistcoat.  Views please... borninsheffield   10 #5 Posted July 4, 2013 Cool. I can't see if being flashy that it's going to out do any of the bridal party. It's just a 3 piece suit. Just someone at work said the waistcoat is wrong if your just a guest.
 Share this content via...

francypants   441 #12 Posted July 4, 2013 Ignore your work colleague, he/she is wrong. No way would you look over dressed in a three piece suit at a wedding, it is the perfect occasion to wear one. As for up staging the main wedding guests well that's nonsense as they'll all be dressed up in their finest. In fact they will be pleased that you have made an effort to look smart, it's the under dressers who'll stick out like a sore thumb. As for waistcoats being out of fashion ..... they aren't a fashion item, merely another part of a suit which some men like and others don't. Go for it.
