wiggie   10 #1 Posted June 17, 2013 About an hour ago I saw a convoy of motorbikes following a hearse on Penistone Road, there were dozens of them.  It gave me goosebumps, I just wanted to give credit to the bikers and the organisers of such a respectul tribute, I don't know the name of the person whose funeral it was but I'm sure that their family would get much comfort from this show of support. John_S6 Â Â 10 #10 Posted June 17, 2013 I didn't notice the hearse but obviously all of the bikes caught my attention. Â Hardly any of them were wearing helmets though - yet the police motorbike escort didn't seem bothered.
 Share this content via...
onewheeldave   22 #11 Posted June 17, 2013 I didn't notice the hearse but obviously all of the bikes caught my attention. Hardly any of them were wearing helmets though - yet the police motorbike escort didn't seem bothered.  Why would they? It's a funeral procession, generally quite slow and none of the riders are going to be going that fast. What would be the point of needlessly harrassing a large group of respectful bikers who doubtlessly, at all other times, wear a helmet as required by law? HotStuff669 Â Â 10 #12 Posted June 17, 2013 Yes, I noticed there was only one guy at the back wearing a black motorcycle helmet. I don't know if not wearing a helmet is part of the "respect" process or the escorting police cyclists did not care. What a great send-off for the guy. RIP.
